It might some sort of transition phase. I know a guy who thought he was bi for a couple years because he was in a sort of semi denial. He knew he liked men, but he held on to the false idea that he still liked girls too in order to remain sorta half normal. Eventually he just accepted that he was totally gay, and he's happy now.
