Okay, I know how Aspies develop emotionally kinda slow, but most NT guys get made fun of (read:not harassed) if you're not thinking about dating by grade 10.

It's not just skills of HOW to get a date, it's also needs and whatnot. We reciprocate differently...So anyways, did and when did you start dating/thinking about romance?

I've been thinking about it recently (as in the last month or two) as something plausible for myself. I feel much different about myself than I did when I first hit puberty; I feel like I've actually past puberty emotionally rather than just physically. I'm much better at judging emotions and much more of a gentleman now.

Again, I'm not just thinking about sex. I'm saying, like when did you start attempting serious dating?

Went on my first date at age 19 with a girl from the internett. Not only was she incredibly ugly in real life, but also rude and annoying as well.

Started at 19. Would have started earlier if there were opportunities.

I've been asked out and/or been in relationships starting in my early twenties. I don't know that I've ever "attempted dating," if you mean "playing the field."

If I were paying closer attention (read: any) in high school this sort of thing might have started earlier.

I first started wanting a date in 8th grade. A few girls caught wind of this, and used to mess with me. In high school, dating was pretty much out of the question, due to the school's very strong car culture (read: a guy must have a care to get a date). My senior year, one girl even agreed to go on out with me, only to cancel when I told her I didn't have a car. This was my first and only crush in my entire life.

I went on my first real date my freshman year of college. I wasn't physically attracted to her at all, but since she said she was OK with taking the city bus, I was so enamored by those words alone, that nothing else mattered (but should have). The date itself was more awkward than trying to drive a car on an ice skating rink. I later went on another date with her, to the college dance, but that's when she showed her lack of interest in me by not wanting to dance closely with me. We haven't really talked since then, save for passing hellos in the hallways.

the second date is kind of early to expect close dancing. and perhaps, she wouldn't dance close with anyone. i wouldn't read much into it.

I went on my first date when I was almost 17. It was just a bowling date, so it wasn't that big of a deal. I've never actually been in an official relationship, although I've dated a few times. Don't worry about dating by grade 10 because most 15-16 year old(NT or AS) are not mature enough to have any sort of lasting relationship. When I was that age, most of my friends who were in relationships had them end badly. High school relationships are usually brief, and more painful than they are worth. I wish I knew this at age 16. Waiting until college susually makes more sense when it comes to dating, unless you meet someone that you really connect with.

I sorta asked a girl out freshman year of HS. What happened was, I was reluctant to tell her I liked her, so my friend did for me without my permission. Nothing at all came of it, she rejected me and that's it. I've not asked a girl out since, and have never done any dating.

Maybe so. But in my defense, the second date happened two months after the first one. In between, we just hung out informally on campus. I kept trying to invite her out to a restaurant or something, but she was "busy" each time. (A red flag I should have caught back then.) I guess the dance appealed to her enough to make time for it. But that was also when I found out she didn't like me.

I was 15 and I dated the guy for 2 years. He was my first love. He graduated college and moved to north Alabama and things just fell apart. There was no animosity about the breakup, it just happened.

I still talk to him sometimes. He's married with two kids and I've met his wife and he's met my husband and our kids have met lol. He's really happy and I'm very proud for him. We are still friends somewhat. We both agree that there was no way we would have been compatable as adults, but both of us look back on those couple of years we dated when we were teenagers and are glad we did.

I started dating at 15. I had my first serious relationship at 16; he was 18. We married when I was 19, and we have been married for 7 years now.

Haha, that sounds so picture-perfect. Glad it worked out for you.

I'm 24 and I still haven't gone on one yet. During my teenage years, I was even thinking about dating.

I had my first crush on a girl in 3rd Grade, so I was 9 then. I usually had one or another until HS (age 14 or so) where I really fell for a girl, but bombed out completely, failing every time I tried being charming or whatnot. So, I was never embarrassed about not dating, but it made me quite sad my love wasn't reciprocated. Luckily I realized these were related to social skills, so I began coping 20 years before I was diagnosed.
