I can't remember the make, but there was a monorail 5 car set because I once had one and it was either in 3.5 or 4mm scale. Hattons who are now no longer trading did at one time import a lot of them along with spare track. They ran ok, but the track was built for high level use (Had its own high level supports) and had no turnouts so one would have had to come up with ones own design if one wanted this feature.
The wheels on the set were similar to model railroad flanged wheels, except the flanges were on the outsides instead to hold them.on the "Monorail" track. They ran on a standard 12v DC motor within one of the coaches og the 5 car set (So one used a standard train controller to make it run) and the current was picked up by wiper rails on the 5 car articulated unit that touched thin contact rails built into the track similar to the thin type of slot car rails one could get. (Each of these "Rails" was less than a mm thick... The type one cleans with a copper coin).
The height of the track supports were set so 00 or H0 scale stock could pass underneath so was ideal for ones layout.
