Why are a lot of anime shows so perverted?

I used to be really big into anime back when I was in high school and up to early college. I was more into mainstream anime like Dragonball and Sailor Moon; I wasn't really much into "hipster" anime shows that had only 10-30 episodes but had a huge cult following. One of the things that turned me off to anime however (other than having bad experiences with other anime fans in person and online who were major douchebags) was how over-the-top perverted a lot of the shows were. It got to the point where there was no anime being made, especially fun and comical anime, without some scene where a girl's skirt flies up or where some guy walks in on a girl undressing or where some guy accidentally grabs a girls breasts or plants his face in a girl's breasts (followed by an overly hysterical and slapstick scene where the girl beats up the guy). Sure, that can be funny every now and then, but when it's done all the time, it just becomes stupid IMO. Of course, there are worse things out there in the anime world such as school girls getting raped by demons and giant squid monsters.

I think it has a lot to do with the fact that a lot of Japanese people are highly perverted, especially those in the entertainment industry. I mean, remember those skirts Japanese girls wore that were skin-colored and had a drawing of a thong on them? How about used panties of 12-year old girls being sold in vending machines? Not to mention that Japan has one of the biggest porn industries in the world with the focus being on underage girls.

The type of anime you are describing is called hentai.

This is slapstick.

It has been a staple of comedies since before motion pictures were even invented.


This is hentai.

It is a form of anime that depicts sexual activity.


This is racism.

Pervs are everywhere, and in every country. It's only the nature of the perversion/fetishism that changes. A common perversion or fetish favors long hair on women, and the belief that short-haired women are ugly.

Just because some of the women may have been cast for their youthful appearances, does not mean that they are under the age of legal consent.

The age of consent is 13 in Japan I think. Meaning legal even if the other person is over 18. Maybe Japan is run by dirty old men. lol

The national age of consent in Japan is 13; however, prefectures can have ordinances that prohibit sexual activities with any minor under 18.


At least we can assume that the pr0n industry is...

And in some 3rd world areas it's 12 and in the past 13 was marriage age.

Japanese is not a race; it's a nationality, and it's certainly not racist to suggest that a lot of Japanese people happen to be perverted. A racist statement would be something like "All asian men have small dicks".

It's theoretically the same if the underage person is a male. Courts don't usually see it that way though and are more lenient.

It usually works that way in the U.S. at least. I guess pretending like the law is the same for males/females is also a running gag.

Even if they have more perverted minds, statistically they do have a good deal less sex and violent crime than America.



So I don't see how it's really all too relevant to real life.

Anyway, it's pretty much slapstick. That said, lots of anime shows aren't perverted at all really. My favorite animes, Patlabor, Initial D, Wangan Midnight, Gundam have almost no sexuality whatsoever in them.

Probably becaus it is aimed at an older audience, and personally I think sexuality is so popular due to the culture actually being rather strict, and thus anime is the place where they can get what is generally not allowed in the mainstream of their culture. There is the tenticle thing that started out as dipictions of penises were actually a tabboo some way back, and thing has morphed into probably what you can guess, and I think there are actually some current laws that include censoring certain things in pornography too. Anime is largely a self isert medium.


The run in and touch breast is indeed the bottom of the barrel joke, the anime community I belong to has a great deal of anger over it. But some of it can be used to funny effect, like turning the entire thing on its head withLovecraftian monsters turned into a cute silver haired girl, addictive gamer, and pretty boy. Especially funny as the evil plots are such things turn out to be alien perversion, or the wanting to destroy the earth by claiming human perversion, making fun of the very things you may consider wrong

Japan also has far less varying demographics than all the aforementioned countries.

It's called fanservice. It's because boys like that type of stuff. It's just differences in Japanese culture that make it manifest differently in Anime than Western Animation.

Yeah, that really bothers me too. Another thing that just plain bugs me is all the bleeding and blood. I don't just mean violence-related blood, but like whenever a boy sees an attractive girl he gets a nosebleed, and it's never a "normal" nosebleed but it spurts out everywhere like a lawn sprinkler that just blew up. How can they lose so much blood and not die? It's not funny it's just gross. Why can't their eyes just pop out of their sockets and go AAOOOGAH like in classic American cartoons?

It is a culture thing, it supposed to be a long the lines of when they "excited" (aroused) the blood rushes, might be a symbolism of an erection, but apparently comes from an old wives tale. Also happens with girls too, in yuri and in others.

Dude, most anime is meant to be comedic, at least to some degree. I've never seen one that was entirely serious. As for why their eyes can't just pop out like "classic american cartoons," well because anime is made in Japan, and they have their own culture, which means their own metaphors and whatnot. Japan =/= America.

Have you ever listened to a Japanese sports announcer or commercial for kid's toys? Or have you ever watched anime in its original Japanese form? Listen to how excited they sound. If you were an extremely excited, eager, horny young boy/man from Japan, who'd never touched a girl before or is simply really friggin' nervous around them, you'd probably have a damn nosebleed too upon seeing one naked or touching a tit or whatever.

Well, MacDragart, I have a very simple solution to your problem.

Stop watching Anime, Hentai, and Japanese porn, and you won't be seeing those things that you don't like.

Maybe "My Little Pony" is more your style.
