Hugs don't make me feel comfortable, so I avoid them when possible. However, if a person I know asks for a hug, I will participate. Several of my family members have made comments about "teaching me to like hugs" by asking for them more often. I continue to explain that while I like them, hugs make me uncomfortable. I keep saying the words but I can't get them to take me seriously.

I actually like them a lot ... If you've met one person with ASD, you've met one person with ASD ...

I like hugs, especially with my friends and family. :D Actually, I'm usually the over-affectionate huggy person and everyone else is like "fluffypinkyellow, I do not want a hug. Go away"

If they are unexpected, my body goes stiff and I pull away after a few seconds.

If I am seeing one coming, I let them do it and if they ask for one, I let them do it.

If I don't hit you for hugging me, there's a good chance that I love you.

Depends. If someone of my close family hugs me, it's ok; if it's from my other relatives AND I expect it, it's ok; but if it's from someone else amd I don't expect it, I scream and I try to go away.

Hugs are nice things that always come in surprise for me. I like them but at the same time, like, wtf? Stranger, friend, close friend, or family, doesn't matter, as long as you're not trying to trick me into anything like stealing my wallet I'm good. :D

Either hold really still and wait for them to stop, or awkwardly try to hug the person back while trying to keep the hug as short as possible.

Depends on the person. Most people it is very uncomfortable and my family learned not to hug me. But there are a few people outside my family who I would seek hugs from.

Mother hugs me when she abdicates all good sense, and the scent of muscatel is abhorrent, nobody else touches me, save for the rare time someone construes my vacant stare after a vigorous spiel as I do believe they believe I'm upset about what I'm frothing at the mouth about. In any case, like a large animal that could crush my skull with a swipe of its rather large paw/fist has taken an interest in the wilderness , and it has made it abundantly clear it is teetering on the precipice of violence, but you know it to be a generally human friendly creature, unless provoked or excited

As a kid I used to hate them, like any kind of touch. Now I actually like hugs, but people probably think I don't, because I find them a bit socially awkward. I never really know how to initiate them, so it just looks odd, like I don't really want to do it, and it becomes awkward. If the other person initiates the hug (in no uncertain terms, so I'm sure that that's what they're doing) then it's fine and I enjoy it.

i freeze and wait until they are over.
if they go for too long, i walk away and break their hold on me.

i dislike feeling other peoples bodies because they are not me.

I like them a lot but I have been told back in 1988 that I could be done for assault ot attempted murder for hugging someone. Also that os was always inappropriare for someone of my age and cognitivr ability. I was told that by some stupid allistic person. Also my mum hasn't got a loving bone in her body. Because of this I have been and am expected to endure 82 years without with about 36 years to go.

I used to despise them. I started to be okay with them after I turned 18 and I am fine as long as it doesn't happen by surprise. I am still not fond of being touched in general, however.
