Do you have a device that comforts you and keeps you preoccupied? Do you speak a little, and use your device? Or are you more comfortable around family, thus easing the tension? I personally alternate between device and talking. :D

Yes. :-) And I can feel like stuff is alive at times, which can lead me to talk to stuff every now and again, and spend time with my computers more than what I think would be usual (or so I've been told). I can alternate between just being with the computer or talking with others... but I'm *much* more comfortable with the device most of the time.

Libations, sensations that stagger the mind.

I just tough it out. Tonight we're going to a company Christmas party. I don't expect much pleasure from this. We don't drink, and I can never understand anything people say in noisy places. They usually crank up the music so loud everybody need to be yelling anyway. I will bring a pair of small ear plugs, and focus on free food. :) Probably walk around showing off my figure a bit. :D

Bejeweled Blitz on my iPad is my solution. I played it at dinner table on Thanksgiving and will do again for Christmas and all other family gatherings.

A little update: the earplugs really saved me tonight. They filter out the loud music but not speech. I was able to have normal conversations with people. Although sometimes I'm not loud enough myself. :) I think aspies should really carry good ear plugs everywhere.

*I don't have sound sensory issues, though.

Me? I eat entirely too much and teach the little children gymnastics tricks. And then, after a long time, I begin to beg my mother to take me home and sit in the corner in misery. Or I read a book. Sometimes all of the above.

I spend most of my time alone during holidays, although since I am still in a house with family, I experience a lot of sensory overload.

One of the few instances I'll have some alcohol...

depends which side of the family I'm on. mom's side is amazing and I'm never more than average nervous with them, dad's side is nerve-wracking and awful and I spend as much time as possible alone with my computer.

fortunately I got one of my "special interests" from my dad's mom, which is genealogy, so we have at least one subject we can ramble on about if I can keep my mouth shut on all other topics...

I have a big all out celebration on Christmas Day. I take it easy for the rest of the holidays.

I don't know. I hadn't played computer games in months but now I'm spending a lot of time playing them. I had been going out to bars, clubs, and cafes a few times a week but I haven't gone out in the last two weeks.

I guess I withdraw and find solace in imaginary worlds.

I spend time alone playing games on my DS.

as for work functions i tend to just sit alone, while every one else gets drunk.

Bring music and headphones. I blast them loudly to drown out any noise, unless one of my little cousins wants to play with me or something.
