I don't know anything about WordPress, but the general rule on technical books is... Do not buy anything from PACKT. Do not buy anything with "Dummies" or "Idiots" or "24 Hours" (or a similar time period) in the title, or anything written by Herb Schildt. WROX normally has good books. O'Reilly usually has the best books. Anything from a textbook publisher like Addison-Wesley is usually good. Anything from other publishers is iffy and would depend on the author and quality level. I wouldn't want to spend money on a title unless I knew it was good. (There are exceptions - the Objective-C and Core Data books by Jesse Feiler are great, for example, although they are in the Teach Yourself X in 24 Hours series. But I'd save my money unless I knew it was an exception.)

I fail to see what that has to do with learning wordpress. How about next time, if you can't say something that's helpful or useful to the OP, don't bother adding anything to the conversation.

As for learning wordpress, wordpress itself is pretty straight forward - it's all the plugins that you need to "learn". Like Trencher93 said, Oreilly books are typically fantastic - but I've never had any issues with anything Packt published either.
