I honestly do not have a preconceived idea as to the answer to this poll. Please do not take offense to it. I am wondering how gender affects socializing with aspies.

I am female (born that way but trans FTM, not transitioning...yet) and I have had a couple of friends that were female, most male friends, except most I was attracted to :( but now.... no friends at all except husband, and he is more husband than friend.

Do they count as friends if we have never seen them in person?

I have a few. They mainly live a couple of hours away, though.

What's the definition of friend in this context?
Should I consider my brother a friend? I sometimes go to his room to watch him play video games, or play at his computer while he watches.
We have loads of inside jokes, but we can't talk about anything that isn't related to video games (or some 'so bad it's hilarious' kind of things, like that Batman movie with Mr. Freeze constantly making horrible ice puns, but it has to be something we've both experienced and I can't talk about something funny I found by myself or he doesn't respond). I don't really know what kind of person he is other than that he's very introverted, I don't know if he has interests other than video games and I don't know what his ideals are or anything. I have asked my mother about some of those things because I'm curious but she hasn't been able to answer very well.
Also sometimes a cousin of ours comes to visit, rarely though, and he's more my brother's friend than mine. I find him rather annoying.

I'm a guy, and have just a few friends scattered all over the place.

No, family doesn't count. My family thinks I'm awesome regardless. One of the biggest shocks was attending college after being homeschooled and finding out the world disagreed. :-)

I have 2 friends. One of them I have never done anything with, and the other I rarely see. I am planning on improving my friendship with both of them sometime in the near future.
