My son (12) loves playing Wii and he has found Wii Custom tracks for Mario Carts.

I have not done excessive research on the subject and do not have the technical skills to do so.

I know that it is not made by Nintendo and therefor can damage my varranty. Further "if you play custom tracks online, for your Wii to be banned by Nintendo for online play, although ban bypass methods do exist."

Can he download these games without any danger to the Wii?
It´s a bit difficult as I do not really know what questions to ask

Well first you need to know that in order to be able to play these custom tracks your Wii needs to be softmodded. Softmodding is basically jailbreaking your Wii, allowing you to run third-party software unapproved by Nintendo. During the process of softmodding your Wii could potential be bricked (ruined, made no more useful than a brick) if you don't know what you're doing. So to answer your basic question - yes it can ruin your Wii, so I recommend that if you and your son don't know what you're doing, just don't do it.

Thanks Johnalin

Well, since we do not really know what we are doing (we are not native English speakers, so there are lots of things he still not understands in English) I might not do anything at all or wait until somebody who knows drops by our house.
