So I got a 32" LCD TV for Christmas, and I've hooked everything in my room to it, including my computer with a VGA cord. But what I did was basically turned it into my own like, WebTV kinda setup. I'd like to get a wireless mouse and keyboard for it eventually (using USB extension cords currently,) but instead of using my computer at my desk, I now use it at a coffee table, and just sit on the ground.

I gotta say, I really like a setup like this. It's like...freeing, if you would. And I watch more videos now, as they're father away, and it feels more like watching TV. Text can be a bit tiny sometimes, but generally it's no big deal. I might up the screen res a bit, but right now it's maxed out and my eyes are still feeling pretty good and I can read stuff fine from about 5-6 feet away. But yeah, I'm really liking my All in one home entertainment setup I made. I hooked my stereo up, too, so everything from the TV goes to my stereo, so I get decent sound (not surround, though.)

Anyway, I really like this setup, though. It's pretty fun. Like it makes computing more fun than sitting at a desk for some reason. Anyone else do anything similar?

That is vaguely reminiscent of the Spacker Dave's setup from the Thomas Jane acted The Punisher.

Such a setup is good, but Im not much one for it. Its too big for me, oddly enough.

I have setup similar to this in my living room. I have hid a computer behind the TV so I can play movies if I have people round or if I don't feel like sitting at my desk to watch something. Another thing I find it useful for, is for random Google moments when there is a disagreement of facts or so I don't forget something I want to research. The PC also doubles up as a file server so it is always on in moments like this.

I gave up the TV thing. I like my dual 24" monitors better. I have more than twice as many pixels as a 1080p TV right in front of me in panoramic view. At this point my 20" TV is just used for the occasional console gaming.

Even a 1080p TV is nowhere near as sharp as a monitor. It's fun for some games & movies, but it'll never replace a primary monitor for reading text.

DVI to HDMI is also going to be sharper than an analog VGA cord!

It's fun though. I'll put a movie up on the big screen... bad angle (and too big!) for PC gaming though.

One thing I should've grabbed from the shop I help at is a small wireless keyboard with a laptop-style mouse trackpad. Very handy for using from the couch!

I have that setup - everything wireless, coffee table instead of a desk, etc. The only difference is that my TV is a 60 inch. It's a good setup, except no matter what you do or how big you go, getting it to a level that's comfortable enough to read text seems unattainable (at least without giving yourself a headache). Standard monitors are much clearer than the best TVs, and it really makes a difference.
