Hi Everyone,

I joined WP a few years back and haven't been on for a while. I wanted to ask everyone a question:

What one thing would improve your quality of life most?

Cheers

It is difficult to pinpoint one thing, but I would say being more assertive.

[quote="Psiri"What one thing would improve your quality of life most?[/quote]finding a job that didn't cause breakdowns and would allow me to be independent while continuing my education.

Coming into a lot of money so I can concentrate on my studies and special interests with no other worries.

I agree with that one. I'm studying and just found a job. I'm now in constant anxiety. I'm hoping it settles down once the job becomes more routine, otherwise there's no way known I'll cope with the job and uni.

What has improved my life a lot recently is having someone to go to class with and do projects with who also helps me with other uni-related stuff I have trouble with.

I don't know if this counts though, your question only allows for things that aren't yet.

It definitely counts. I'm looking for real life solutions.

The ability to turn off my hypersensitivity at will. Especially sound. Everything would be easier then, though I'd still like to retain the hypersensitivity at times, since it can be useful or even pleasant to notice and experience things others cannot.

Practically speaking? Getting a good set of headphones saved me my job and by extension my independent life. Making a few friends who valued my difference instead of judging me for it (or even cared that it was called "autism") saved my personal sanity, though it took years and lots of travel and bravery to achieve.

Receiving $10,000,000 in tax-free cash, unconditionally, and from an anonymous donor.

A cure for my younger brother's depression.

His depression causes me far more misery than my autism does. It tears me up inside to see him so sad. I feel so helpless because nothing I can say or do will cheer him up when he's in a sad mood, and I'm terrified that he might hurt himself someday.

Getting an innate ability to small talk and interact spontaneously. It would help a lot of my social problems and I would have better luck finding friends.

I was hoping someone would say that. Why do you want to do it? Do you see it as a way of solving problems in your life, or is it something you'd want to do for pure enjoyment?

For me it's a bit of both, but the second is very much the most important.

I agree with Ai. I would want this so get (more) support in real life.

A spaceship to take me back to whichever planet I came from :P.

To be honest, I think having money would help. Whether I get this money from a job which doesn't cause me too much stress, or a from flying pop-tart that comes and gives me it as a gift, I'll be happy.
