Anybody else try going without coffee and start getting a potent experience? My imagination runs wild, I feel stronger ups and downs and things bug me more. I am also using more of my vocabulary.

If I go without coffee for about half a day or more, I get slightly irritable, a little drowsy, have (more) trouble focusing, and get headaches. For the most part all those are mild except the headaches (though I get those sometimes without caffeine withdrawl as well... runs in the family).

Irritability, certainly. Feel fatigued. Cannot concentrate. If it's more than a day, headaches. Depression will start to kick in. Then anxiety.

I need caffeine just as much as I need my meds to function.

I'm completely addicted to coffee. I'm sure that has nothing to do with ASD, except perhaps that having coffee is an essential part of my daily routine. But that's true for many NTs as well.

STOP! Spare me the pain of imagining life without coffee. It's too much to bear! Just way too much to bear!

I used to drink two cups of coffee a day, but now I only drink one, and I don't finish before it gets cold.

I used to drink two pots of coffee a day, but now I only drink one. Maybe one and a half.

Why not coffee? It smells good, tastes good, it's inexpensive, it's legal (and easy to obtain), and not nearly as damaging to one's health as many other substances are. It's effects on behaviour are relatively minor, and the addiction is mild enough that it can be broken quickly and (relatively) easily should the need arise. I'd much rather have a coffee addiction than any of a number of other common addictions...
