I will start a thread on a subject and get worked up by the replies.

I find this embarrassing why do I keep doing it.

Technical forums and here are the only boards I can post on and stay relaxed.

For the most part here I am glued to reading others peoples posts.

Just a question do any of the rest of you find you run into problems on web forums?

I do. Sometimes it's helpful to imagine that the person you are replying to is someone you know and care about. I wouldn't call my mom an idiot, and so if I imagine that the person who seems really stupid to me is my mom, then I find a nicer way of explaining myself.

But honestly I screw up. I figure I will get kicked out of here eventually.

Totally.
Banned from so many forums by now.
Primarily because I don't acknowledge any such concept as "authority". Anyone who seeks to look down on me for whatever reason, or assume they can boss me around, is immediately subjected to righteous defiance. I put up with too much of that crap (i.e. bullying) back in my school days to ever be willing to put up with it again. Liberty or death. Those are the only options.
Generally someone gets wound up, starts giving me aggro, I fight back, mods try to tell me off, I tell the mods where to stick it, I get banned, I move on... Sometimes I come back anonymously, but mostly I don't.

Mostly.

If the WP mods here weren't so understanding that people sometimes have problems with impulse control I would have likely been banned a long time ago.

I'm supposing the difference is that I always stand by my choices and actions... even if they seem foolish and impulsive in hind-sight.
Better to take responsibility and the consequences than to pin it on loss of control, as I see it... whether true or not.

This is probably one of the most leniant forums I have come across and a few times I might post something or say something I would be afraid of being banned but usually you get a warning at the worst and the vid taken off with a display of the rules. As long as its not extremely frequesnt in a short amount of time you dont have to worry about being banned unless its making threats or something or are intentionally reapeating the offences regardless of the warnings and or making personal attacks including to the mods. Usually once something of mine gets removed due to violation I understand and dont question it.Its usually a reminder not to do it or try to do it again people make mistakes all the time and I make my share of mistakes. Just dont be intentional about it.

It's not always what you say, it's how you say it that gets you banned. It's not what I say that I have a problem controlling, it's how I say it. See the difference?

Yes, I've been banned from a lot of forums as people seem to either take a dislike to my tone or the subject matter I post or a bully/bullies on the forum decide to wind me up until I lose my temper then I get the blame

When you know your own mind and are prepared to defend your viewpoint to the bitter end you are a prime target on any forum
as most people find this concept ridiculous and enjoy winding you up or ridicule you for not taking the majority viewpoint; then it becomes a battle of wills as they feel a 'duty' to take you down as they can't have an individual triumphing over a group - they see it as a matter of group pride.

I've noticed that the people who used to target me on another aspie forum don't tackle me on this forum and it speaks reams - it means they don't feel they have the backup of their bullying cronies. Someone on here posted that I was the most vicious person they had ever met but refused to elaborate in any way about how they knew me and what exactly they were referring to, so I see them as a possible member of that other forum but obviously a blatant coward with no evidence to back up their accusation - typical bullying behaviour.

That's why I like this forum so much as people are more open minded and more likely to relate to the points I make.

What kind of stuff do people usually get banned for? This is the only forum that I am regularly on.

I remember the first time I was banned from a forum...it was way back, before GTA: San Andreas came out, on one of those super popular fan forums. I felt I'd been banned without justification and took it with a hefty side of indignation. After that incident, I decided to remain completely, emotionally detached from all future forum accounts, which has led to plenty of bans and suspensions.

With me it was generally for refusal to toe the party line and agree with the majority viewpoint

Also standing up to bullies while the mods just sat back and let it happen

Any act of communication has two participants. The one who transmits and the one who receives. Any lack of consistency between the two can lead to dissonance and misunderstanding. It is flawed to exclusively "blame" the one who transmits.
More often than not, "how" you say it will make perfect sense in your own head, but it is merely interpreted differently. There is only a limited extent to which that can be predicted, and clearly if you could predict a misunderstanding in advance then you wouldn't word things in a way that would cause it... As such, the only rational conclusion to draw when "how" you say it comes across poorly is that a miscommunication has occurred between both parties, and that neither one intended harm by it.
Therefore... when aggro is dished out to the transmitter due to such dissonance, the one "in the wrong" is the one dishing out the aggro... or "punishment" as they like to call that.

In short, and as ironic as it might sound given my previous statement about responsibility... if you get punished for a misunderstanding, the one who punished you is in the wrong, not you for "how" you said it.

(And of course further aggro for disputing the "punishment" just pushes the punisher further into error.)

I love to over analyze as much as the next aspie but you lost my interest after the 3rd sentence. Have a pleasant day :)
