Does anyone like the Pound Puppies? There used to be a cartoon series in the 1980s, along with toys and the little plushies you could adopt (they came with their own adoption certificate and instructions for care and feeding). I was born in the early 90s, just as many toy trends of the 80s were beginning to take their last bow, but I did have this VHS tape of some Pound Puppies cartoons that I got from a neighbor girl when I was about three or four, so I found out about them that way. Then when I was about 5, the Pound Puppies toys were revived by Galoob and I ended up collecting a bunch of those...my grandma loved them, too. :D

I think after that, the Pound Puppies had at least three very brief revivals in the 2000s before the new, totally revamped show came on The Hub in 2010. I've seen a bit of the 2010 show, and I think it's pretty cute....I do like Rebound. :D I still kinda like the 1980s Pound Puppies better though....the 2010 revamp just isn't the same, to me.

Here's what the 1980s Pound Puppies looked like:

And here's what they look like now:

What are your guys' thoughts on Pound Puppies? Do you like the 80's ones? Do you like the new version? Or maybe you're like me and think both versions are cute? :D Do you wish they hadn't revamped the show at all? I don't want this thread to turn into a lot of "Oh that version SUCKS and this version is the best" but I just want to hear your guys' thoughts.

I had a couple of Pound Kitties when I was younger. I had an orange and white one and a Siamese one. I remember naming the Siamese one Cookies n Creme but I don't remember what I called the orange and white one. Peaches n Creme? Orange Creme? Creamsicle?

I've seen the new Pound Puppies cartoon. It's pretty cute. My favorite is Cookie. Love the fact that her tough side has a heart of gold hidden in it. :) I also love your Cookie plush! It's adorable!

My favorites I believe were from the mid to late 90s. I don't know if that's exactly when they came out but that's when I remember playing with them. They were the ones that looked as close to a real dog as the Pound Puppies got. Most of the ones that I obtained were hand-me-downs from relatives but I loved them regardless. Still one of my favorite childhood toys!

I remember when they came out in the mid-late 80s. I've grown out of toys around that time, but I liked the commercial for them.

Pound Puppy, you're my one and only puppy love. :O)

I wanted one but I thought it would seem suspicious for a 12-year old boy to have one so I didn't press the matter. That was fine though, I had a live black Lab to play with. The cartoon was awful, completely twisting the animals' preconceived personalities and voices I had made up for them, IMO the only continuity between the product and the show was in the name, the dogs didn't even visually look the same

And now I'll have the theme song from the 80s cartoon stuck in my head for the rest of the night...
