Why is it starting to irritate me that people always think I am a baby? >,<

I am 29 years old and can't pass for twenty if I wanted to. At first I thought it was some sort of compliment you know? Who does not want to look younger longer? But being out with my gf, whom is a year YOUNGER than me and does not look by any means elderly, gets asked all the time if I am her daughter.

At least SHE does not get offended.

I mean really, do I LOOK that young? Seriously? I wonder why its starting to annoy me that people think I am so young.

I've gotten similar. I have gotten a lot of "Why aren't you in school?" -_-;
My brother has been thought of as looking really old though, so I'm not sure which is worse.

I'm 30 and that fact blows people away. I get carded for anything age-restricted ("M" video games, certain medications), and the clerks do a double take every time. When I get my hair cut, they often ask how school is going. "I graduated 12 years ago" isn't what they expect to hear.

I know I have read often enough that people under the spectrum seem physically younger, not just a bit immature. But I have a hard time believing so many strangers would agree on thinking I look so young.

I feel your pain, I'm the EXACT same way. I'm 21, but look like I'm 16... I think this is somewhat common among Aspies (not saying EVERYONE is like this).

Huh, I usually get mistaken as a 18-20 year old, and I'm 16.

The good news is that when you get to be 58 (like me), people will still think you're in your mid-30s. I think the gene for the spectrum must somehow have an anti-aging effect, I've heard this from others on the spectrum, too. The bad news is that I can't help but be honest and when I tell them I'm actually 58, I scare them off because it totally freaks them out that their guess was off by more than 20 years.

When I was in my early 20's I was in a bank holding my infant daughter wrapped in blankets. A lady looked at me and said "oh, you have a dolly" I opened the blankets to show her my real baby and she did a double take.

I've been carded in my 30s for by a rated M video game. Sheesh.

Oh well, my hair is turning grey maybe that will give people a clue.

Yep! I surprise people when I tell them that I'm in my late 20s. Someone referred to me as a "kid" a few weeks ago. 8O When I see other people my age, I'm actually a little shocked because they all look a good deal older than me.

It's funny you mention this, because people have mistaken my younger brother for someone a good deal older than me.

If you're male and you don't want people thinking you're younger than you really are grow facial hair.

I have often been taken for being younger than I actually am. A few years ago, one person actually thought I was a teenager and shocked to learn I was 38. That is not the common assumption I encounter. Usually people take me to be in my 20s or early 30s.

People think I'm around 18 sometimes and I'm almost 31. When I look in the mirror, I'd say I look about 25 on average. But it's all so subjective.

A couple of times recently I had people look younger than I am. One person thought I was a teenager. I don't know why. I don't think I look like a teenager. Another time someone asked what my age was and when I told them they said they thought I was younger and that I had good skin. I guess I have less wrinkles because I rarely go out in the sun?

Levels of something in the human body normally drop with age. Causing people to look older. The levels apparently don't drop in Aspies a lot of the time.
