I wanna know whether learning another language helps you acquire social skills. Personally, I feel I've learnt a few things mostly in theory, but some of them in practice (although not much), but I wanna know whether it's the case for most people and if it depends on the method.

Whilst not really being social skills, I feel easier expressing myself in English than in my native language.

some of my thoughts are even in English 8O

I voted the option 4 by mistake, I meant that I've studied a foreign language but it didn't help me to improve my social skills. Sorry.

I have learnt two foreign languages, although for both I focused heavily on reading and writing and not on speaking.

How do you know if it could possibly improve your social skills as long as that hasn’t happened? :?

No, learning other languages didn't help me at all. And even worse, my lack of social skills makes it very hard for me to learn how to use foreign languages because I cannot talk to people using those languages.

Lack of social skills also means talking to people in any language other than your native one is even more dangerous. A lot more chances to put your foot in your mouth

I've tried learning Hebrew from pre-school through college. Not only am I terrible at the language, but my classes have in no way prepared me to become more sociable. (On a side-note, I took three Spanish courses in high school. I found it easier to learn than Hebrew, but since I hadn't practiced using it since high school, I forgot most of what I learned. Still, I didn't gain any social skills from those classes, either.)
