Hello Asperger friends,

l've been in a "hot debate''(eyeroll) over a term being used on another forum for nearly 2 days now. Which l have declared a hipster term that is ironic in every sense of the word and only continues to be so the further you unravel it.

However, some participants. in the discussion remain unconvinced. l did realize that my brain can only turn this pver so many times before the concept is mashed potatoes to me and then l in fact wondered if l could be wrong o_O

l don't want to hurt this kid's feelings -_-. Even if he probably is a hipster.

Anyway, my claim is that this label is for hipsters and that it is as much of a sexual orientation label as any of the LGBT labels are

Most importantly, that if you have this label you have defined yourself. Keyword. He's claiming pomosexuals are undefined by any label.

Since l'm sure l'm boring the people on this site engaging in an argument for over 36 hours with this kid l'll end it, but l was laughing to myself the whole time and l'd LOVE to see Aspies tackle this one for days(or weeks) on end and beat into the ground like l wish l could without being called "intolerant"(lol for days).

what say you?

I didn't know what pomosexual meant, so I looked it up. It is one of those topics that are defined in a way that you can't have the kind of debate that you are wishing to have.

BTW, I have had a similar thing happen to me on another site. No matter how clear my argument was, it could not penetrate the emotional state of the other person. It is a waste of time.

Pomme is French for 'apple' - so I thought it meant lusting for forbidden fruit (like a student lusting for a teacher), but no it means "post modern".

I like my meaning better.

"Pomosexual" is like "metrosexual"- just another cutsey bs term for "homosexual". Nothing wrong with being gay, but why obfuscate about it?

Whats to debate about it?

Pomosexuals could be gay, straight, asexual, bi. or pansexual.

They are people who claim to have no sexual orientation label by creating a sexual orientation label that rejects sexual orientation labels.

No, I don't get it either!

They don't want to be identified by a sexuality label, so they invent a new label to wear. Right. And one that very few people will have heard of, therefore leading to being asked about it and creating more confusion... wouldn't simply refusing to discuss your sexuality be simpler?

It seems to me it's a way of making a big deal out of nothing!

As well, I was under the impression that among hipsters, being gay, straight, bi, whatever was all fine and that they tend to experiment with sexuality. So making this label even less necessary.

What does post-modern sexuality even mean, anyway?

And that is why you cannot argue against that.

I thought pomosexuality was being attracted to what you find beautiful, regardless of any other factors. Like pansexuality, basically, though pansexuality focuses more on ignoring gender, I was led to believe. It seems a bit pointless, but I don't really see it doing any harm. *shrug*

I had to look up hipster. I just have a vague idea of that is supposed to be. I first became aware of such a thing when I saw that Scott Pilgrim movie.

A Pomosexual and Hipter sounds like a modern androgynous Beatnik.

Why would I give a s**t about someone enough to try for 2 day, let alone a week, to change their mind? As long as they're not having sex with children I don't care about their sex life or how they label it. While we're taking about labels, I'd say this is more of a circle jerk than a circular debate.

Apologize for heaping insult upon the injury, but:

Also- you're miss using the phrase "circular reasoning" (unless its on purpose as some hip expression). you're using it to mean "having a round table discussion".

"circular reasoning" is certain kind of logical fallacy. The fallacy of using an assertion to prove itsself.

"Joe blow talks to angels".

"How do you KNOW he talks to angels?"

"Because he told me so."

"How do you know he wasnt lying?"

"Dont be SILLY! A man who talks to angels never lies!"

Thats circular reasoning.

Agree with above, this isn't circular reasoning. I'm not convinced there's reasoning in there at all. People who don't want to be labeled made up a label for themselves? They can call themselves whatever they want, the rest of us will know to file them under 'idiots.'
