It's quite obvious Sheldon Cooper has aspergers! I read on wikipedia that the writers didn't want to give him a diagnosis because they felt uncomfortable with that. What's your opinion?

I find The Big Bang Theory highly irritating, but sure, diagnose him.

I'd personally be more interested in the people of Community diagnosing Abed.

I love that show in part because I can relate to Sheldon's inability to read sarcasm and body language haha. In my opinion, they should make an episode where he get's an aspergers diagnosis and let's everyone know, but they should make it the series finale

NO ! !!

It’s better the way it is.
People can take as much or as little as they like, when they’re ready.
I can imagine an episode where it's considered, but shrugged off.
He has a job and a life and no need for a diagnosis.

No. It's fun to keep the audience guessing what is "wrong" with him.

Besides...he thinks he's perfect...he is not going to go find out what it is "wrong" with him.

Definitly not! That would be a huge mistake!

Sheldon is the main reason the show is so successful. His character is very funny because he's excentric. If excentricity is turned into a diagnosis, seen by most as a disability, he would stop being a funny character and would turn into the object of pitty and political correctness. The show would never be the same if he had such a diagnosis.

Having said that, it's obvious that he has AS to anyone who knows what it is. You can choose to be ofended by it, or you can learn to laugh at your own shortcomings, idiossincrasies and your type of inteligence. I prefer to laugh. :D

Speaking of which, maybe Alex Plank can do a cameo (as Wil Wheaton and others have done) during which Alex would advise AGAINST seeking a diagnosis. Not that Sheldon would need to be told that, but Leonard might benefit from an explanation.

Or maybe Ari Ne'eman

Yeah I prefer to laugh too, lot's of times when Sheldon doesn't understand sarcasm or body language, which are difficulties I share with the character. Come to think of it, your right, the show wouldn't be the same if everyone understood that he has a condition because they would no longer make fun and react the way they do which is what makes the show funny. However, I do believe such an episode would be cool as the very last episode of the show. Actually, they should open a nationwide poll before the finale and ask whether a reason for Sheldon's behaviors should be revealed and explained. If enough people say yes, they should make the episode, if not then no.

I have read that the producers of the show have debated to say if Sheldon has AS. But they decided not to say that he does because they don't want to make it seem like the others make fun of Him for something He can't control.

But I think if done right it would be a good thing.

No. No no.no .no.no and no. Sheldon's unique quirks have both pros and cons. As long as he is not labeled he does not need to be PC or a set limit of acting. We already have amad anyways.

I disagree... 1) it shouldn't be done... anymore than the character "Sugar" on glee... 2) He doesn't have asperger's... Many other personality disorders, but it's not asperger's. He is just a geek that was raised in an inhospitable climate...

I'd rather see the writers develop a story wherein Sheldon finally comes out as gay.

No, I mis-spelled the names of the entire cast.

One is married. Two have girlfriends. The 3rd wants a girlfriend badly but does seem to show a lot of signs he might be gay. But yes Jim parson is gay.
