Yeah, this isn't that big a shock to me. Then again, I worked in the Scottish parliament dealing with Domestic Abuse. It's not just Man on Woman, LGBT and Woman on Man are also issues. Around 10% of cases involve an abusive woman. However there is a massive lack of awareness and misunderstanding surrounding the issue, because if a man says they are being abused (particularly physical abuse) they are pretty much laughed at, because of the traditional gender roles. Kinda sucks.

If a man goes to the police and they laugh at him instead of doing their work, then report then. 40 years ago women were also laughed at, when they went to police, seeking help because of their husband violating them. Some accepted it and went home. Some did not accept it and reported the police for not doing the work. As long as they finally started to understand their work.

Its sad if there is still police, that is unable to remember, that they are paid to represent the law and not their own social believes. If they need to be reminded by reporting them, bad for them.

As real and as sad as this is, I can't help but think of Lorena Bobbit. I wouldn't term it abuse, just abusive behavior. Nevertheless, Bobbit is a folk hero among Americans.

My son's girl friend beat him with a cooler,he did not retaliate or go to the cops.
Men feel emasculated reporting abuse,but they should.
Abuse is abuse.Man,woman,someone hits another person,they should be charged with abuse.

That's not abuse though, because you want that to happen. These guys don't have a lot of choice about whether their partner hits them or not.
