from literature or televison? and why?

i've been an OC fan and always idealized the seth cohen/ryan attwood friendship. seth has always had socialization difficulties( a character i can identify with) and they're very different but very very close to each other. their conversations together seemed so deep and you could see that their was love for each other in their friendship.

and the other one is the hamlet/horatio friendship shakespeare created. hamlet is such a larger than life figure but horatio offers really good rational/sensible advice and is very very loyal. and they love each other and care.

guys.

(i know my descriptions are very romanticist/emotional concepts of friendship as is my ideal conceptualization of friendship. there's a fine line between homosociality and homeoeroticism and in our heteronormative culture guys tend to be worried about crossing that line. that's probably why i find it easier to socialize with women.)

I adore Hawkeye and Honeycutt and Sherman Potter. Wouldn't they be fun friends!

But I'd really like to be friends with Harry Potter, Ron and Hermonine. Instead of them being "The Trio" we could be "The Quad". I would like to be friends with Neville, Fred & George, Hagrid and Dumbledore too. I would like to have tea with Professor McGonagal.

Well, I don't watch the OC and haven't read Hamlet since high school. They sound like good examples though. My choice would be the friendship between Lucius Vorenus and Titus Pullo on HBO's Rome.

The Bandit, and Snow man in Smokey and the Bandit. Donald, and Gregory in Mozart and the Whale. That was cool how Gregory let Donald stay with him after Izzy dumped Donald.

Turk & JD from Scrubs.

The most I can manage these days is JD & Dr Cox, with me as Dr Cox :(

I can't think of any.

I would love to have a best guy friend that is hot and would let me hook up with him occasionally.

I used to read the "Animorph" books and was always jealous of the relationship that the six main characters shared.

Another one would be Jill and Eustace from The Chronies of Narnia (books six and seven) though i can't remember why anymore, i always wished i could tag along.

When I read the books By the Light of the Moon and One Door Away From Heaven by Dean Koontz, I noticed that in both books, the main characters ended up as a close-knit group, and I was jealous of the close connection they all had with each other. I think what I liked the most about those friendships was the complete understanding the characters had for each other, and how they were guaranteed a place to belong.
