http://psychcentral.com/quizzes/narcissistic.htm

I ran across this test reading about Dr. Drew (Pinsky). Celebrities score 18+, Drew 16, me 1.

In related news, Dr. Drew is in hot water these days because five people from his Celebrity Rehab show have died tragically. Mindy McCready was the last one.

That's why I was reading up on him... I find him extraordinarily smarmy.

I scored a 9 overall; interestingly enough, I scored a subset of "3"--particularly high--on Superiority (though these questions correlate to statements such as "I am a special person" and "There is something extraordinary about me," which are statements that I believe about every person).

The fact that your score is as low as it is can be a testament to a truly admirable level of selflessness. :)

Your Total: 3

Between 12 and 15 is average.
Celebrities often score closer to 18.
Narcissists score over 20.

I scored a 7, which makes me happy.

Wow, Mindy McCready died? She was a good singer before.

hmm English is my first language but I had to google search the word "smarmy". here is my google search adventure:

Quote:
smarm·y

/ˈsmärmē/

Adjective

Ingratiating and wheedling in a way that is perceived as insincere or excessive; unctuous.

Synonyms

sycophantic - adulatory - oily - obsequious - fawning

progress! 4 terms that I have never seen before.

Lets try google searching "fawning"

Quote:
fawning present participle of fawn (Verb)

Verb

1.(of a deer) Produce young.
2.(of a person) Give a servile display of exaggerated flattery or affection, typically in order to gain favor.

Okay must be the second choice cause Dr. "smarmy" most likely does not give birth to fawns.

but wait...this is still confusing...what in the world does "servile" mean?

Google search...

Quote:
ser·vile

/ˈsərvəl/

Adjective

1.Having or showing an excessive willingness to serve or please others.

Synonyms
obsequious - slavish - subservient - menial

Okay google...thanks for that one. 10 minutes of my life wasted because people want to use pretentious words.

=P

3.

Got a 1 in 'vanity' because I like looking at myself in the mirror. I spent most of my life nearly obese. Now I'm skinny-ish. It's still bizarre and surreal to me that there's muscles moving underneath my skin. Sometimes I just get captivated. "Oh my god... I have two pectoral majors. It's. Amazing... O_O "

Maybe smarmy is an old person thing. To wit:

“I don’t think he tells the truth. I think he makes stuff up," Burstyn said during an appearance on “The War Room with Jennifer Granholm" on Thursday. "I daresay he lies. And I find it kind of smarmy, I do," she added. Ellen Burstyn on Mitt Romney

"Soledad O'Brien Teaches A Smarmy Televangelist A Lesson In Equality." Rebecca Eisenberg on Joel Osteen regarding his take on the LGBTQ community.

"Eating Liberally: What about those smarmy Monsanto ads?" Marion Nestle in "Food Politics" talking about Monsanto's "rugged man" ads.

"Smarmy Clothes is a one woman circus act. I juggle the designing, pattern making, sewing, photographing, web design, and everything else in between! Smarmy Clothes offers a little bit of everything for those looking for alternative fashion: handmade diy punk clothes, rockabilly dresses, kawaii, pin-up clothes, and scene clothing."

"Favorite Smarmy TV Characters - You love to hate 'em. Sometimes though, they're so awesome that you just love 'em. E. B. Farnum (William Sanderson), Deadwood" Smiert Spionam from Movie Fan Central discussion forums.

Gah, that's why...living in the past are we! Quick I need to make smarmy into slang somehow!
