I don't feel I fit in here on the forum either.

I've not been officially DX ASD.

It was more an ADHD "and oh yeah, many autistic traits to"

I've done that test thing, and i'm definetly not NT.
Cant remember the numbers though.

I apparently didnt like to be held as a child.
I recall head banging behaviour to.
Definetly had what now know as "Autistic Meltdowns"

and so on.

I also dont feel that behaviour I have arent a problem. As in I see so Many "relieved since diagnosis now know what the problem is"
or "glad found group I fit in"

I got none of that.
What gives?

I acknowledge ADHD as real and a problem, but not ASD.

Any one else experienced this?
Would it be something like not accepted?

IDK.
Maybe I just prefer isolation that much?
/ i'm a sociopath in denial? lol

I personally haven't accepted my AS. I don't relate very well to anything anyone here posts. In fact, I feel like I'm faking it most of the time. Then again, it could be because I rarely feel anything ever.

btw, if you feel empathy, you are not a sociopath. Do you feel empathy?

Yeah I felt like I was lying when asked about things which DXs would fall under.

Everyone has started treating me like i'm a child and that I don't get things. When I get more than they do,

I'm pretty self aware and know quite a lot about personal growth and every subject it encapsulate, and if as I was in denial I think I woulda picked up on it, because I am VERY honest with myself (as well as others).

Mmm, relating to posts, its "yeah I been in that situation" and I just view post (and everything for that matter ) as a problem to be fixed, and none of this "aww me to, hang in there" useless lark.

Empathy. Well my perception is building a model of how someone would feel in specific situations with their personal varies influencing.

When people tell me their problems or such face to face, I just feel like i'm a parent and they dont get it. "babysitting the World" would prob describe it. Even with my Psychistrist I just sit there and see her struggling (I've read a lot bout body language etc before any DX or awareness. I feel the same detatchment or parent looking at a kid.

I dont think ASDers are able to empathise as is.
But I seem different again.

Hmm.

I loved being held as a child and I'm the nost textbook HFA/Aspie that I know. So, not every trait fits everyone. Autisitcs tend to be very different from each other.

But also, don't obsess about a label that a parent, teacher, psychologist, or even doctor places on you. You know yourself best and if ASD doesn't fit, then that's probably not you! if the ADHD seems right, then go with that.

Its not so much about the labels, its more about understanding, for me.

I've attempted to explain 3 times now., lol, its something i'm gonna have to comeback to.

This is incorrect. People on the spectrum have as much capacity for empathy as anybody. They just lack the innate ability to show it (in most cases).

What does it mean to "feel autistic?"

WrongPlanet is not representative of everyone with autism. What you see here is a collection of individuals with enough in common to communicate and relate with each other. There are probably many more autistic individuals who do not feel any sense of rapport with those here, and those individuals are less likely to stay here, make accounts or comment.

In any case, you said yourself that you did not get a Dx of autism; you were only described as having "some autistic traits," which could just mean that you fit somewhere within the range of people with the Broad Autistic Phenotype (BAP for short). This means that your autistic traits are sub-clinical, yet prevalent enough to raise some flags.

I wouldn't sweat about it. Do whatever feels right.

it's weird they woudln't talk more about why they chose to label you with the autistic traits.

l don't know, it seems like if a doctor is going to do that they would understand the person is going to research Asperger's. Sometimes ''autistic" is used in a casual way with clinicians, meaning involved with the self.

You'd think they'd be wise enough to know that with the actual rate of ASD diagnosis now they should choose a different word.

lf they don't actually think you have AS, maybe they also mean you have some obsessive traits, lt's quite common for people with an ADHD diagnosis to get an OCD diagnosis later on.

You can have autistic traits and clearly not be autistic. I've met a few people like that.

My brother, for example, is a socially skilled kid with social anxiety, who stims and has intense interests. He has been assessed and found not to be autistic, but he does show autistic traits.

I feel autistic. I also appear autistic to other people. The way I think, and being isolated in my own world inside my head is what makes me feel autistic.

I've never expirenced not being autistic so autistic feels natural no me, I only notice it when I trip up or compare myself to others or feel sensitive/overstimulated on that day. I can go days feeling fine if I can get on a roll.

I can relate...

I wonder if ASD and ADHD are just two sides of the same coin sometimes.

Not only that, WP members are not necessarily the cream of the crop in terms of being well-adjusted and socially functioning. I'd say most active members occupy a "middle ground" between LFA and the best-functioning autistics which is why they come here for support. The best-adjusted aspies have likely outgrown their diagnosis altogether (20% of children who are Dxed with Asperger's become NT when they grow up) or are otherwise too busy in the real world to come here often.

I felt just like you until I met up with some other autistics whom I found to be very very similar to me. So actually...I'm pretty convinced I have a form of autism now and that my DX is correct.

So...OP, maybe it's the same with you and ADHD?

I don't think anyone really "feels autistic", same as no one really "feels NT". To me, it's just another way of seeing the world. You can't truly see things through anyone's eyes but your own.
