Phobias, no matter what they are, that are so bad they affect you in everyday life?

For me it's mysophobia (germs) and emetophobia (fear of getting sick). It when I was 15 when my grandpa who lives with me and my parents had a stroke and got sick. His immune system weakened, he was in and out of the hospital, spent time in nursing homes (parents took him out and refuse to send him back after he was dropped and broke a rib at one, and wasn't fed at another) and picked up nasty illnesses from them. He currently has MRSA along with several other infections his medicines are having trouble clearing up. I have NEVER had such a big issue with germs til this began.

Now he is taken care of by my dad, grandmother, nurse practitioners and still occasionally goes to hospitals.
My dad got a MRSA from him, and my mom got it from my dad, in fact everyone in the house got sick from him at one point or another but me. I haven't even had a cold since I was 16. But still. I used to help out by bringing water to him and such, but ever since he 1. Threw up on me 2. I stepped in his urine when his catheter was leaking and 3. I stepped in his freaking feces when some fell from his diaper after it was changed, I refuse to go anywhere near his room. 8O

And my grandmother isn't the best with hygeine either. She never wears gloves when she changes him or bathes him and refuses to because "he is just a sick old man, no big deal." We have gotten on to her several times and she won't listen. I go crazy, I bleach every surface in the house, mop, vacuum, multiple times a day. I wash my hands and feet all the time. Take 4 showers a day. I even have a welcome mat in my room that I must wipe my feet on before entering and spray myself with bleach every time I bump into my dad or grandma after they take care of my grandpa. I've gone so mad over this I've considered suicide before. I won't touch shopping carts or door handles without wiping it down with a little bleach first, I seriously carry bleach in my purse!

I would live on my own but was out of work for a while cause I got fired for "not showing enough emotion". But I start a new job next week so I'll be out of this hell hole soon and maybe will be able to afford to get some help. :D Anyone have severe phobias to share?

That sounds really awful no matter how you look at it. I'm sorry you're having such an awful time, but don't give up! I hope you get your own place soon.

Thanks. :) And yeah it's hell. People can be jerks and so rude to me because of it. The majority of people either tell me I'm 1: Psycho or 2: To just "get over it." My brother purposefully wont wash his hands just to be mean. ugh.

I have a fear of driving. My dad is a retired driver's ed teacher and when he was working, I was one of his students. He made me nervous with how annal he was. I'm also nervous about how bad a lot of other drivers are known to be on the road.

I took the bus all four years of high school and I was away at different colleges where most of the time I didn't need to leave campus. My parents or grandparents would pick me up and drop me off during vacations. With the bad economy and funds needing to go into flood recovery from a flood that happened in the city I live in years ago, the direction of my mom's lawfirm has had to change direction. She has to work so many hours now, so there isn't much time to work with her. I'll have to work with my grandma.

I also have a fear of rejection from potential friends. I got rejected from a sorority two years ago, where I was told that I wasn't "putting myself out there" enough. I was the only pledge who didn't make it.

I'm so sorry. That sounds really horrible.
I am kind of a germaphobe too and I really hate flakes of dead skin.
I have to scrub myself down very well.
My brother, like yours, would purposefully stand in front of me and scratch his ass making horrible scratching noises and try to touch me.
I of course freak out everytime and have mental breakdowns. :/

Hi
I have panic attacks about war like chemical or neuclear weapons
And a phobia that I would rather not name for fear of being judged
It does affect me in my day to day life and I have to be careful of how I act every day to make up for the fears that are in my head

SPIDERS!! !! i hate them. I couldn't even look at pictures of spiders until I was ten. sometimes I feel them crawling on me when they aren't there. it is so bad that i cant sleep in my room for weeks if I see one in there. It's very hard because I love to camp and be outdoors, but it's hard when there's a humongous spider every three feet. It has gotten better over the years, to the point where I can look at tarantulas in cages. anyway I hope you conquer your phobia soon!

I have a phobia of crowds in general.
I have a phobia of vomiting. Or anyone else vomiting near me.
I don't like spiders but I don't think its a full blown phobia.
I have a phobia of failing life.
I have a phobia of poverty or becoming poor.

Not sure what it's called, but a fear of basically any small living thing. Bugs, spiders, bees, etc. Ugh, can't stand them. Something will fly in front of me and I'll instantly stop walking. I'll start to tense up. I don't think a day goes by that I don't hear "what's wrong? why'd you stop walking?"

I have very strong parasitophobia (Fear of Parasites.) It's actually why I'm vegan. I can't go outside without shoes, as I'll panic and be convinced I'll get worm eggs in my feet.

I have a cripling phobia of getting lost. The thought just terrifies me, it makes going to places I have never been really hard.

I have phobias of:

Flying
Driving
Spiders
Heights
Dying

I am, however, trying to get over the whole height thing with some help.

Mad scientist, I know what you mean. You should see a doc they can help, especially if you're feeling very depressed or hopeless.
