i have fell in love with steam. The prices of its games make it more attractive for me to play games on the computer than PS3. I think as a result of steam i am not going to move onto the next generation systems(ps4, 720), as the prices of games are probably going to get up. Dont get me wrong, i love my ps3, but Console games are usually more expensive than pc games(when they are on steam).

My son and I enjoy Steam as well but it wasn’t always that way.

Steam has revitalized the adventure game genre, and for that I will be eternally grateful...

I love the discounts you can get on Steam. Especially the winter and summer sales are crazy! I really hope Steam will keep these "today's deal" and "weekend deals", that's how I buy most of the games there, with a big discount. :P

I have an Asus gaming laptop, G72GX. It ships with both Realtek and Creative Technology for sound. *Any* use of Creative will cripple Steam to the point of crashing the computer when Steam attempts startup.

It took me three reinstalls of Windows over the course of two years to learn this was why Steam eventually crashed my computer, and the problem is easily resolved by uninstalling Creative. The posts I found about this were from 2011! Why didn't Google find them for me back when I first had the problem? I certainly looked for a solution short of reinstalling Windows. Wasn't even looking for it when I found it.

Now that I know how to keep Steam and my laptop on friendly terms, I really do like Steam. I've taken advantage of the sales to get Bioshock (played, loved), Bioshock 2 (not played yet), Fallout 3 (still playing, haven't finished, too much to explore), Fallout: New Vegas (not played yet), and Mass Effect 1 (playing, love the trilogy).

Then there's Skyrim. It's in a class by itself, especially when modded to suit individual tastes. I expect my next showdown with Alduin to be far more difficult, as it should be. Deadly Dragons! lore friendly version.

Is anyone else getting random discount coupons from time to time? I suddenly received 3 a few weeks back.

Another thing that reminded me why Steam is so great is that you can join a game a friend is playing with ease. Right click name > join. It will start the game and instantly join the server your friend is in.

Oh and I still have 2 free game coupons, Breath of Death VII and Cthulhu Saves the World. Anyone wants them? They are retro-style comedy RPG's. They've been sitting in my inventory for a while and nobody in my friends list wants them.

I like STEAM quite a lot as well, mostly due to the huge discounts during sales, I hardly buy brand new games anymore I usually wait for sales on STEAM. For me it is ok since I have a nice backlog of games to play while I wait for newer games to become discounted.

Another thing I really like about STEAM is that I do not have to leave the house in order to get a game that I want, its something very cozy about sitting infront of your computer while it is snowy or raining and blowing outside in the dark while just hearing the fan of your heater while you download a new game :D

It's amazing to compare Steam's reception now to the backlash against it when it was required for Half Life 2.

That being said, Steam was what got me playing PC games again. If I recall I joined to get Portal for free some odd years ago. PC gaming is an insanely cheap activity if you play older games and properly time the sales.

Making it easier to BUY games than pirate them.. and cheap enough to do so!

Good job, Steam.

Steam is great! I need not worry about scratched discs anymore. There are so many other reasons to lurv Steam, I could go on and on! The support for mods and indie games are some of my favorites.

Steam is really useful! I find it awesome that it can update your graphics card drivers too!

To be honest, I myself am pretty impartial to Steam. Technically it is DRM and I can play games just fine, but at least it's exceptionally reliable and trustworthy. The storefront is probably the best part about it for me, everything's all there and I can find what I'm looking for and the deals are pretty amazing. The friends list is another thing people might like, but I've made no real friends over Steam, or even Xbox LIVE for that matter.

I still remember 2004 when HL2 came out and everyone hated it because of the DRM. These days the DRM deployed by steam is not as bad as the crap other companies like EA put out.

Steam is the best. Unfortunately I buy a lot of games on sales and I haven't even played with most of my games.
