The article says, "what was supposed to be moonshine," and that after a few if them sipped it, one went to the ER. Who knows what the stuff actually was... but it could've been anything these kids thought would get them drunk; I wouldn't assume it was actual, correctly made, moonshine. Could've been rubbing alcohol for all we know...
I would assume that it was actual, correctly made, moonshine. The people at the school, the cops, the EMT's and the hospital staff are mostly from around here. Like I said, it's around here but it's just hard to get your hands on all the time. Most people around here have seen it at least once. I'm sure if it was something like Everclear they would have said that in the article. I'm also sure that the cop smelled and tasted it to see what it was too. I know who was working that day and trust me, he would know moonshine. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't have a close family member with a still out in the woods lol. The lady I get it from is married to a cop and she gets it from a relative. People around here don't see making moonshine as something horrible to do. Yes, it's illegal but everybody knows it's only illegal because they can't tax it and most people, even those who don't drink or if they do they don't drink shine, will tell you that people should be free to make it for themselves if they want to and some think that people should be able to sell it too.
You have to understand where I live. I'm in the backwoods in rural Alabama. I just happen to live in the "town" part of it, which is very small. If whoever talked to the reporters said it was moonshine, it was moonshine.
