A deep question: why so many people here have cat avatars?

Just wondering. Is there a relation between autism and cats? :lol:

Quite a lot, indeed.

By the way, your avatar, is that Jesus doing the Star Trek salute? :D

I noticed that too, and it's funny because cats aren't even that cute compared to many other animals.

A cat, my avatar is not, hrm.

I've heard of people comparing cats to the personalities of people with ASD, such as how they are upset when their environment is changed, they dislike specific noises (sometimes leading to PTSD in cats), and their aversion to touch unless they initiate it or at all. I have seen a large number of cat avatars, but cats are popular in general all over the internet due to memes.

There's a book called "All Cats Have Asperger's Syndrome". I've come across it quite a few times on Amazon while looking for autism books, and I can see the resemblance.

Also, I have to say cats and I seem to get along much better than either of us do with other human beings. :)

I noticed that, too. Although it's not like 50% of the people or anything, it's noticeable enough to call it "many". I guess it simply shows many people's affection for cats. I think I notice more of cats than dogs. A few coffee ones as well.

I used to like cats until I decided that their bathroom habits outweigh any redeeming quality they may have. As such, I no longer have cats!

Maybe they identify with the cat behaviour?

NT = Mentality of dogs.

AS = Mentality of cats.

If you have AS and relate to cats, you're normal :wink:
