hi,
im new
i really have no idea if i have an ASD, but it seems like it is likely.
i also dont like the idea of self-diagnosing, as i dont like to identify as being a certain type of person unless i am sure.
assessment is pretty expensive though, so i guess i am looking to see what others say of themselves.
i am 18 and in university in canada, and life is starting to get more challenging.
i have been in sports as long as i can remember, and am now in roller derby. this is great because i have a slight aggression issue and my team does not seem to mind my eccentricities, however our team has decided that as part of practice, everyone should always be touching another team member.
i have to consciously remind myself every time someone (other than my mother) touches me that it IS okay, so this change is quite mentally exhausting.
someone also mentioned that going to at least one boot camp every year might be required. this involved traveling to a new place to practice with and be coached by people i dont know. i have been to one, and it took be a week to get calmed down after.
my other problem is that at school (and i go to a very large university, where even the library is always full of people) i tend to get really stressed out and 'turn off' because of all the people/lights/noise/bad perfume.
i will likely be going to get assessed, but the wait is about 4 months.
are these things which people here experience? might someone have a suggestion on how i might better deal with them?
