Is it just me or does the thought of being photographed make your skin crawl? I HATE being photographed & it's not about feeling a lack of confidence about my appearance. I get the creeps & freak out inside whenever I see a photo of myself. It just seems so unnatural. I do enjoy looking at photos of other people; especially old black & whites or Daguerrotypes. Just NOT a photo of myself. The only reason I (rarely) submit to the camera, is because I realize that someday my future descendants will wonder who I was & want to know what I looked like. My 'psychosis' shouldn't have to be their problem & deprive them of an ancestor. Plus; I won't be around to have to look at these photos anyways. Does anyone else out there feel this way? What do you suppose the reasons for this can be?

I don't like looking at photos of myself either. In some odd way that I don't understand I feel that the photo is not of me, although I know, of course, that it is. I don't understand it at all.

I can't stand getting my picture taken, nor can I stand looking at pictures of me. I also can't stand it when someone record my voice and then makes me listen to it.

I ended up destroying most of my pictures. My mother DID save a lot, and I figured OK. My views changed a lot when I found I had AS! HECK, why would I care whether I learned to speak at 3yrs or 3months? I DIDN'T, but now I DO! HECK, I even learned a couple dozen digits of PI to celebrate in a way. I USED to be happy with 3-6. I'll probably never even use it. I DID use 3-6, but I didn't need more accuracy.

I feel the exact same way. Worse yet, I have no idea what is a "good" picture of me, or at least what other people perceive as a good picture. Usually the pictures of me that I consider the best are the ones that I feel kind of give a slice of my personality, but when most people see one of these they ask why I didn't smile for the pic (even when to me it looks like a smile). When it comes right down to it people are like little kids; a picture of someone smiling makes them happy (even if its an unapoligetically fake smile).

I look horrible in most of my older photos. I either look depressed, really tense, or disapproving. Not being photogenic doesn't help either. The photos that were taken in the past year (i.e. 2006) look halfway decent, in my opinion. However, I'd be much happier if my pictures didn't have to be taken at all. But as prism97 pointed out, my descendants will need to know what I looked like, so I guess I'll have to grin it and bear it.

I don't like being photographed either.Even if I've been
pleasantly surprised at how some photos have turned
out,I still find it an uncomfortable experience.

I am not at all photogentic. Even if I think I look fine that day, photos of me come out horrible. I have always hated having my photograph taken...My family knows the one rule about me and photography: "Make sure Lauren isn't in the shot."

I have the same "problem" too. Quoted because I don't actually feel it's my problem. Only those people get problems that wish to photograph me
Seriously, I don't mind so much, but there are not many pix of me - I usually try to blend with the background.

I don't like having my photo taken, but it's mostly because I don't like people looking at me or focusing on me. When someone is taking your photo, that's what they're doing, staring at you and focusing on you, and THAT makes me uncomfortable. I can take a photo of myself without feeling uncomfortable though.
