Does anyone prefer to be barefoot? Or go barefoot around their house, property, short trips to local areas? Permanent?

I've been a barefooter for six years. From the West Coast to the East I've walked through dry, dusty country roads, muddy trails, moss, rocks, gravel, grass...I don't think I have to elaborate haha. Also, this freaks people out the most but I love to be barefoot in the snow. Don't ask me why, but it's beautiful. A light dusting all the way to a foot or two, I've never been intolerably cold, too numb as I know how to make my trips necessarily short and practical. It takes a lot of getting used to, treading through weird stares, jokes and insults but it's worth it. Also keeps me cool in the summer. And since I live in an isolated area there isn't much by way of rude glances so it's great.

I love being barefoot, but my mom doesn't like it when my feet turn black.

I grew up barefooted. That was back when drunks and teens didn't come along and toss beer bottles out the window all of the time. Also, it seems to me the asphalt got hotter.

Now, I just wear flip-flops. Not those rubber shower shoes but the ones with the cloth or leather strap between the toe. Been wearing them constantly since about 1985. Even when I lived up north again for a long stint, I was wearing flip flops in the snow and ice.

Had a customer that loved my feet, LOL! He said it was really nice to see feet in the winter time. That was weird.

yes around the house all the time, around the property mostly yes, and no because of dangerously abundant wicked thorns and cactus.

My house is very strictly shoe-free for the sake of not letting dirt in from outside. So my carpet is clean and I love being barefoot on it.

When I go out, I have to have shoes on because I don't like to step on dirt and other yucky things or pieces of broken glass etc.

I hate shoes and I really hate socks. It sometimes bothers me so much at work sometimes that I have to hide somewhere and take them off for a few minutes.

I prefer to be barefoot. The only time I put on shoes & socks is when I'm going out & I take them off 1ce I get back home unless I think I might be going off again soon. I have a pair of flip-flops at my parents that I can slip on for walking around the yard but I live in an apartment nowadays & there's no yard except for like the sidewalks so I wear shoes when I go outside here. I might have issues with my feet. My feet get sore when I stand in one place awhile(I mostly do it when I'm out so I have shoes on) or after sitting down awhile with shoes on. I have wide feet & I get wide shoes but I had a couple ingrown toenails in the past so I started getting my shoes half a size longer. My toes had enough room in front before otherwise thou & because there's more space in front my toes I think my feet/shoes my slide alittle unless I velcrow them tighter((I wear velcrow instead of laces) I also sit wierd when I'm barefoot; like I'll have my foot sideways &/or on top of something like a rode for the chair I'm sitting in or I'll sit on my foot. I might talk to my doc about my feet issues one day incase I can get some kind of prescription insoles that world work alot better for some or something but I have afew other issues to address & I'm not working so my feet issues aren't that much of a problem usually because it's not like I'm standing/walking around in shoes most of the day usually.

I wear socks, but not shoes, unless I am leaving home.

When I was a kid I went barefoot from February through November. I'd still do that except I stepped on a bee when I was 9 and had an allergic reaction that made me so afraid that I refused to go outside barefoot again. :( I still don't like to wear shoes in the house, but something happened to me after my last baby and now if I go barefoot too long I get weird foot cramps. :?

I like the feeling, but not drawing attention to myself, so I stick to around the house. If out in public, it might be for a walk around the nature preserve where no one else is around.

This ^

I prefer to be barefoot at home, but I have accident-prone feet & my toes are always getting smashed from running into things,
so sometimes I wear socks just to protect/cushion the blows to my poor toes.

I maintain shoe-free apartment, people have to remove them when they enter.

I never go outside without shoes on, though-too many hazardous and/or gross things out there,
and I don't wish to wound my feet nor track the mess out there back into my home.

Wait, do you people wear outdoor shoes inside the house? Or do you mean you wear house slippers?

I have never worn outdoor shoes inside the house. Well, maybe for the odd emergency call of nature, or if I realize I left the buss pass on the kitchen table or wallet or keas or something, a quick dart in and get the forgotten item. Not the come home from work/school and lounge around inside with the shoes on.

I used to be barefoot all the time growing up, but now I always wear shoes outside. Too much broken glass and vomit and other nasty stuff on the sidewalks.
I wear indoor shoes (slippers or sandals bought for the purpose of wearing inside) because I have cats and there are always some sand on the floors, even five seconds after vaccuuming. I think it's because my cats all have long fur, and the sand sort of sticks to the fur, so when they are done, they just sand everything when they move around the house no matter how much I clean.

The slippers issue:
I think people mean literal bare (no sox, no slippers) feet when answering this question/thread.

I do own slippers, which I wear indoors rarely.
I mostly use them for trips up & down the outside stairs
to reach laundry room in cellar, or when I'm bringing trash can back & forth to/from the lawn.

They're my comparatively "clean shoes" because they don't leave the premises,
yet offer more coverage/protection from elements than having mere stocking feet
for walking on stairs that might give me splinters, have bugs & dirt on them-as well as "who knows what" on the lawn.
