Of all the solo albums Michael recorded, what's your favorite, and why?

Am over a certain age so Im biased towards oldies, but:

Its between the two earliest.

Probably Thriller, with Off the Wall as a close second.

Thriller has several great songs. But off the wall has "Rock With You" - my favorite of his solo era songs.

HISstory is a greatest hits package that cherrypicks and recycles the hits from other albums, so it doesnt really count.

After that he moved away from disco to a more house-music sound which just doesnt suit him as well.

Other tolks do house music well. But I just dont care for the sound of any of his post thriller stuff (though some of his later songs have interesting lyrics like "Man in the Mirror").

The first disc was a "greatest hits" compilation, but the second was all-new material. Such tracks included "They Don't Care About Us", "Tabloid Junkie", "D.S.", and the "Scream" duet he did with Janet.

When I was a kid and started listening to music, it was all about Dangerous. That was his latest album at the time, and the songs off it I heard the most on the radio like 'Black Or White', 'Heal The World', and 'Remember The Time'.

However, after I listened to his earlier output, I honestly drew toward Off The Wall as my personal favourite. Arguably, Thriller is the more solid album between the two. There's barely any filler on it, and while it experiments a little bit with influences of other genres, it's essentially a very consistent disco-soul album.

Many people consider Bad to be MJ's magnum opus, but I feel that Bad is the album where he began to depend on gimmicks in his singing style. Nevertheless, there are some gems on Bad, like 'I Can't Stop Loving You' and 'Man In The Mirror'.

I like the extended version of "Bad" with the track "Leave Me Alone."
