I have a great strength in language and writing but am curious about the strengths of other women with aspergers?

What areas would you consider to be your weakness?

Thanks :)

Imagination in the meaning of visual memorization of objects, landscapes, maps, ... including 3D. Good memory of linked numbers. Interest in all kind of scientific knowledges like biology, ecology, physics, chemics, astronomy, ... everything is linked with each other.

I have as well a horrible "on purpose" bodymovement, so by will I move my body pretty badly, but I have as well an pretty good "not in purpose" bodysense, if I do something again and again and again... So when I start as example a new game together with my partner, getting into the controls is for me way harder. While when I do something intense for 6-12 months, then it becomes somehow a part of my body. When I started drumming, I thought 3 year old couldnt have a bad rythm feeling as I had, but after a year or so suddenly it increased enormous and instead of focusing on the arms, I can now focus on the music and the arms and leg move almost themselves. :)

I do like as well, that I am toward all kind of stuff, and dont get myself into "Because of this and that, I should avoid such thing, because others can do that better." My mom in law seems to think of me as a kind of Tomboy, because of me not avoiding tools or construction work on purpose, and gets then in the opposite shocked if she catches me doing "typical girlstuff". For me I see no difference between a circular saw or a sewing machine. If I need to use one, I get my hands on one, read the manual carefully, do some tests with material that I dont need to care for, and thats it.

Funnily one of my weaknesses is a horrible "feeling" of theoretical mathematics, so everything that cant be imagined into objects, vectors, powers, that is simply unphysical, is for me "blub". ^^ I am horrible in recognizing peoples autentions, if they are hidden in sarcasm. So if you are a friend of mine, that I dont mistrust, its easy tricking me for fun. ^^ In general I am sadly horrible at recognizing people intentions, so if someone tells about his day, it is hard for me to recognize if that person simply gossips, or tells me something that bothers him, and that he wants to be agreed on his oppinion, ...

My strengths are writing, communication (not social), and excellent muscle memory (does me real well in cooking, I almost never have to weigh or measure stuff.)

Weaknesses are gross motor coordination and poor proprioception (bumping into stuff and knocking things over). Also my arithmetic is really weak because I learn math through patterns and arithmetic only has a few, I can't see numbers in my head to add or store them for division, etc. I have conceptual thought, like just ideas tons of them...

Strengths:
--patterns in thought processes and concepts, bottom-up processing (helps with conversations)
--very visual--I'm good at remembering faces, so that also helps with social interaction because people get all flattered :D
--expression through writing
--time management (since I'm rather controlling over my environment  )
--focusing on a task
--puzzles

Weaknesses:
--black-and-white thinking
--literal interpretations (I could really miss the mark sometimes :\)
--most math
--expression through verbal communication
--following oral directions >.>

Strengths...Science and math...especially in medicine/biology. But I'm studying in a top notch Taiwanese high school so the grades don't always reflect it. I'm somehow good with computers and I have a very specific set of skills which I don't feel comfortable discussing (no, I don't hack) but I'm not very interested in a CS or IT career. I have very good observational skills except in social observation, obviously. Sort of talented in music. I almost entirely taught myself guitar and can compose from scratch. I'm linguistically gifted too. Also, I'm a rational and deep thinker.

Weaknesses...I can't dance, period. My brain can handle anything but dance moves. I'm okay with sports and is an endurance athlete (used to do triathlons) but I can't even learn half a dozen dance moves. As an Aspie, I (to some extent) go through just about any difficulty described in the criteria. I assume you're familiar with that, are you not?
I make a lot of careless mistakes when taking tests and exams. That's part of why I'm nearly flunking math. I learn very differently too, so it isn't always easy for me to learn well in school. But I think that's not exactly a weakness, its a potentially beneficial difference.

I can remember complete trainstations building sites out of the head, but pass my jr. chef without greeting him, because of me not recognizing him, when he wore his afterwork-cloths. :(

Oh yes. So embarrassing.
So I wave back at anyone who's waving just to be safe. :?
Until I realize they are waving at someone behind me or something

If I listed all of my strengths and weaknesses down, this post would go on forever, as I would most probably get carried away and list everything down imaginable.

So I will just say a few points. I have more common sense than I do logical sense. I have a visible weakness in things like maths. I don't hate maths, I'm just very poor at it. A bit like socialising - I don't hate it, I just don't do so well with it. But with socialising, I have some strengths and some weaknesses. My social strengths are picking up on emotions, opinions, sarcasm and humour through body language, facial expressions and tone of voice. My social weaknesses are speaking up in groups, and/or being assertive or authoritive (if that's a word?)

Memorization, pattern recognition, languages, spelling, creating systems of performing work (we still use VHS because I can speed-read and so do all my caption timestamping at double speed and the boss doesn't want to slow me down to real time  ). Repetitive-motion tasks for me are good. I am good at knitting and wire-wrapping beads. I am pretty good at training others because I have good attention to detail and I am patient and can break things down into steps and explain them.

While I can't draw worth a flip, I am good at color, shape and texture coordination. If I was a celeb, I'd be on the best-dressed list every year. I have rhythm and although I look like my arms and legs are on backwards, I can dance okay. I have quick reflexes and have never had a car accident that was my fault except for a parallel-parking attempt gone horribly awry and some times where my car rolled away because I forgot to set the parking brake--but I wasn't driving  .

I am honest to a fault and usually think that others mean what they say, too. This caused me much dismay in my youth because I thought the other kids meant it when they said, "You're a smelly doo-doo head," etc.. I didn't realize it was a game. When my friends got mad at me and said, "I never want to play with you again," I took them at their word and quit playing with them. I was very easy to tease and bully because of this.

NEVER ask me to balance a checkbook or do computations in my head. I will do dumb things like 6+7=15 (I almost said 13, but then I realized that was right  ). Don't expect me to follow verbal directions. Be specific. Don't just say, "Pick up some red wine." I will stare at all the different brands and varietals until the store closes, trying to decide. But don't be too specific. If you give me one particular brand and they're out of it, I will get in a loop--should I get another brand of Cabernet or another Woodbridge varietal?

strengths -
patterns (to be honest, i see everything as describing a pattern or predicting a pattern)
puzzles
math
science
finding information
textile crafts (weaving, knitting, crochet, spinning, bobbin lace. one of my main interests.)

weaknesses -
being too literal
inability to remember faces (can remember any other type of pattern but not faces)
difficulty with auditory processing
social interactions
becoming overwhelmed by sensory information

Too funny!

If it makes you feel any better, not everyone appreciates me recognizing them because when they don't recognize me, they're a tad bit creeped out >.> "Why is this girl talking to me...?"

I'm good with
language
analysis
seeing patterns
logically figuring out the behavior of people (which can often take a loooong time)
direct communication (well, I don't know if that's a good thing or not)
loving people

Any kind of written communication, spelling and grammar, word games, crossword puzzles, certain aspects of my profession, speed reading, seeing overall patterns or themes, have great insight into other people that they might not be aware of themselves, interest in fashion and just "know" how to put outfits together without even thinking about it, want to fix and improve EVERYTHING, because I see the possibilities, making connections between the oddest stuff (I was researching on my university's website today and suddenly had a memory of grocery shopping in my old neighborhood, totally not related to what was happening in the present), quirky sense of humor, incredible powers of concentration and focus, persistence, loyalty.

I'm still pretty bad at the social stuff, though. That, and understanding how I feel in the moment about stuff.

Strengths
--grammar and spelling. I like the rules. They're intuitive for me.
--picking up languages. I can memorize the vocabulary, and the spelling and grammar are easy once I get the pattern.
-- arithmetic. You memorize the mechanics.
--geometry. I can see it.
--literature and writing. I don't know how to explain it, other than to say I made straight A's all the way through a BA in English, with a baby and a husband and a personal life, without ever really breaking a sweat. It's not something I learned. It's just THERE.
--memorization and pattern recognition.
--doing dull, menial, repetitive work.

Weaknesses

--every other kind of math. Algebra, trig, calculus-- forget it!!
--thinking around corners. I've learned, sort of, but it takes an effort.
--not getting empassioned when it's important to me. I cannot discuss causes I care about, or my kids' futures, or stuff like that with the same vocabulary and tone of voice and apparent level of emotional involvement that I discuss the weather. If I care, it shows.
--working memory, especially when excited or under any form of duress.
--shutting up, once I get started.

ETA: Wow. I really need to apply for a job as a copy editor. I would make a great copy editor.
