i dont believe in mythical, spirits and such bunk

but i have always practiced superstitions

i have found 3 four leaf clovers in my life time, and though nothing has happened i still feel safer with it

research has been done on superstitious people and a theory is that people who are superstitious want control in their life more

i believe that being autistic i want to avoid change and remain control in my life as much as possible, making me superstitious.

are you superstitious

Not really. I have a few items that I consider "lucky" but that's about it.

Superstition brings bad luck.

I don't believe in ghosts, zombies, bad/good luck, karma, magic, curses, dragons, nor soul. (List goes on).

Is that not even more superstitious than believing in superstition?

Not really, as I don't believe in the supposed source behind most superstitions, but I do find myself almost playing a mental game with it at times. Like trying some special action or gesture before doing things. Especially in sports. It can be a little comforting or maybe just tap into my Aspie preference for repetition. And I still at times can wonder if the lucky gesture will work... but in all the attempts it never does. But I think the desire to control is the main reason I am doing it, the desire to prevent failure or recreate success.

Actually, I can be a pretty hard-core magical thinker, even though I know that superstition is not a very accurate way of looking at things. Unfortunately, it's hard to let go of.

Btw, another hypothesis about superstitious people is that they easily see patterns, even when they are not there.

I'm superstitious. I know it's illogical but I have superstitions anyway and I don't even know where I got them from.
If I see a penny on the ground and it's heads down it is bad luck and I won't pick it up. If it's heads up it is good luck and I will pick it up.
sometimes if it is heads down I will even turn it over so another person can pick it up and have good luck.
If I see coins laying around the house, I have to turn them all heads up.
Prime numbers are unlucky except on lottery tickets, then they are lucky.
If I turn off a TV, the channel setting cannot be left on a prime number.
"Good bye" can not be the last thing I say to someone I love. I can say it but It has to be followed by something like "see you later".
Certain things have to be arranged in a certain way. Things I have had for a very long time are good luck. Some things just have a lot of meaning.
I have other superstitions I will not mention because it might be bad luck to mention them.

I have a blanket with a picture of a Native American man and if I make my bed with the picture upside down, I quickly change it or else I will have a bad day. I also see the number 32 a lot when I am going through struggles and it lets me know I am on the right path even if I feel confused. so yes.
