Hi Everyone.

My name is Tony, I'm 36 and was diagnosed with Aspergers around 5years ago. I am from the United Kingdom Manchester to be exact, but I'm now living in Wales. I'm a freelance writer and occasional blogger, so by and large self employed - as is the case with many aspies, I don't really play all that well with others when it comes to work.

I'm married and have been for a little over a year - having lived together for a little over ten years - besides, there is only so many not so sublte hints you can politely ignore from your mother-in-law.

I have quite a few "Special Interests" (not overly fond of that term) and I'm afraid they are quite streotypical - retro gaming, a bit of programming, electronics, restoring old computers, obsessively reading anything and everything and rather bizzarely candle making - I make them for local film studios, including the BBC, for shows like Merlin and the odd eppisode of Doctor Who. Some even turned up on the harry potter movies. So I guess I'm a candle maker too.

So thats me! Hi :)

Nothing streotypical about that. Sounds pretty grand.

Hi! I joined recently as well. I'm a high functioning - mild autistic person. I especially hate social related stuff. I stim alot, but to myself, etc. rocking back and forth, tapping my feet, doing this weird thing where I feel my hair for certain, really soft parts. I have hypersensitive hearing, and I do have sensory issues

Hi :)

Yeah hearing is a big thing for me too. Do you find you can cope with a lot of noise as long as you are prepared for it? I tend to find I can although it can be draining. It's random sudden loud noises that get me. Car horns, power tools ect out of the blue.

The restless feet thing is really common apparently I tend to do it when I'm deep in thought or worried about something - its an entirely unconcious thing. It drives my wife up the wall sometimes.

welcome tonyland!

funny how you mention "work for myself like most Aspies do" - I feel like I am at a similar crossroads. Good luck and congrats on the interesting life!
