Always nice to see Aussies on this site.
I've been through the Queensland mental health system. The hospital doctors seemed overworked, but the psychologists, psychiatrists and counsellors in the community were a lot more helpful to me. Plus my GP: he's not the most personable fellow, but he's thorough and takes the time to actually talk things through with me. Sometimes it takes a while to find the right people to help you, but for me it was definitely worth the effort. And yeah, they're either free or relatively cheap in Australia. Thank goodness.
