I always seem to nick myself... The last time I did it, I all but shredded part of my leg (there's a line of nicks and scrapes)

Any tips or personal stories?

Use shaving cream, a good double edged razor and go slow. I always cut myself too and it is usually when I am rushing. I typically use junky disposable razors and they cut worse than a nicer blade. If I use my husband's razors I usually have no problem. I think they are Gillette Mach III and I use my own blade on the same handle.

I always cut myself if I use a razor with a fixed head. I only buy ones with swivel heads now because they move more easily with the contours of your leg. Also make sure you are in a warm room because if you are cold you'll get goose bumps and it will make it more difficult to shave with out catching your skin. I hate trying to shave my legs in winter. My bathroom is freezing. I have to have a hot bath before I can do my legs at this time of year.

If you have fair skin and dark hair, this is your solution, dear.

To bad $450 is waayyyy out of my budget. Seeing as it's winter and I have no man I'll just not worry about it.

If you can´t afford laser, use waxing. It removes from the root.

Tips -
Do it whilst in the shower or bath
Use some shaving foam
Use a good razor. Minimum of at least 3 blades. I use 5 blades on mine I think.
Swivel blade also helps. As others have said, fixed heads suck.
Afterwards, find a nice cooling moisturiser or something that will help that itch. E45 will help. I use Diprobase cream as I get eczema, it's great, but the shop-bought equivalent is E45.

Personally, I never bother shaving my legs unless I'm wearing shorts in the Summer, or I'm cosplaying, or I'm dating. None apply at the moment, so I have yeti legs. Doesn't look so bad as I have fair hair, can't even tell.

I tried waxing before. not only did it hurt like a mother I have super strong hair and it didn't get it all. Tore it out in patches, my legs looked like camouflaged pants if I didn't keep them shaved for weeks. When my mom tried to wax she got bruises. She bruises really easily they should have a warning on the box.

And I usually nick myself around my ankles or knees. And don't always get it all off the backs of my thighs without doing some serious gymnastics.

AH...the dreaded leg shaving....

I hate shaving my legs with a passion -- always have. It takes forever -- I'm brunette and pretty hairy, so I have to make sure I get it all or l look like I have the mange. It grows back quickly, and when it starts growing back, it itches so badly I draw blood trying to scratch. Moisturizer doesn't help, electric shavers vs. blade razors don't help. I can't wax because my skin is super sensitive -- even band-aids tear my skin when I remove them. I shudder to think what ripping hot wax off my legs would do!

When I have a man in my life -- haven't had one for several years now -- I generally shave. But when I don't, I don't shave -- at all. I've shaved my legs twice in the last year. It doesn't bother me, and since no one else sees it, it doesn't bother them either. I have an internet guy who LOVES his women hairy, so if he and I can ever get together -- crossing my fingers -- it won't matter anymore. People try to tell me that it's unsanitary, but I call bull$#!+ on that. As long as I'm clean, how unsanitary can it be?

SIDENOTE: I read years ago that women only started shaving their legs in the 1920's. An advertising campaign by a razorblade company made the point that women's legs would look nicer in the new shorter dresses if the legs were hair-free. Women took the bait and we've been shaving ever since.

Go as far as you can see. When you get there, you will see farther.

I don't shave anything. And people who say that not shaving is unsanitary are completely ignorant. Most men don't shave their leg/armpit hair; do others insist that they're unsanitary? Having body hair actually protects your skin and keeps you more sanitary. You simply have to keep yourself clean, which is true of both the natural and the shaven.

I also hate shaving with a passion, I don't see the point I sometimes will if I am going out in shorts or a bathing suit in the summer to try to fit in but I've been known to go swimming without shaving my legs. I hate the itchy feeling when the hair is just growing in it drives me crazy so I figure better to not shave at all.

I've shaved my legs since I was about 8, because I copied off my sister. I always used to cut myself back then.

But now, I can shave my legs in the dark within about a minute and I never cut myself. I just use a normal twin blade, fixed head razor and plenty of soap.

When I'm camping and I don't have access to a shower I use shaving oil. It works a treat.

I have never liked shaving. I have always disliked the sensation when your legs are smooth from a disposable razor. It feels like a bald, wet, raw chicken to me. I tried it a little bit when I was younger (cut myself many times and sliced right through one of my fingernails). I started shaving again a few years ago due to the panniculitis and bruising I get on my legs (I am constantly monitoring my legs for chages). I use an electric razor that does not trim all the hair off (I have an auto-immune disorder). I leave the hair under my arms. Shaving them gets very itchy and it burns bad. Hope this helps.

I seldom shave anymore. (Never had a man complain, either.) The interesting thing is that when I left the leg hair alone, it began thinning. I don't know if that's because of rubbing on the inside of pants or leggings, but I really have to let it go a long time now before anything's terribly noticeable.

In the summer, I shave my pits every few weeks; otherwise I seem to exude more B.O. If no man (currently the case), I almost never shave my legs. Unless it's hot and I know I'm going to be wearing shorts or capris in public - and that's mainly because I have some nice tattoos on my calves that look better without the bristly hair overlay. :P

I actually do best using a dull razor - I *hate* when I have to switch to a new blade, because the cuts and ingrown hairs get 1000x worse until my blade gets dull again.....

Yuzu, does the Tria thing really work? If it does, I might start saving up for one.......
