Inspired by ehymw's thread here--I'm asking the exact same question, but have made it more specific--do any single Christian women exist, presently, on WrongPlanet? By that, I mean not just nominal, born-a-Christian folks like something like 80% of Westerners are--I mean serious, dedicated, born-again Bible-believing Christians. I know full well that the vast majority of us are materialists/rationalists with little use for the supernatural (and indeed, I myself struggle with spiritual concepts at times because I can't test them out with my five senses), but I know there are some believing Aspies/autistics out there--it's just hard to meet them, both because Aspie girls in general tend to be quite shy, and because many of them don't waste time on the internet (like I do)...

I am a female I guess I would call liberal Christian. I believe in God and Jesus, but am also supportive of evolution, gay marriage, and such. It bothers me how some overly judgmental Christians give us all a bad rap. Most of us are not like that at all and are accepting people.

I am, but we find it hard to find any time to go to church, anymore... I go to a Christian university, though.

If there are, they sure aren't noticing me. Just like at church

I believe in Christ. Churches in a college town make me crazy sometimes. One more ice breaker and I may cry. There are some really nice people there though.

I like the Bible a lot though. I have trouble with the abstractness, but I'm enamored with God's character. The fact that He's consistant, moral, He reveals His plans in plain writing, He looks at the heart. Christ cared for the outcasts, understood rejection, and forgives which I'm pretty glad about since mistakes are kinda my specialty.

I'm thinking theres got to be a few of us around here somewhere.

I'm a more conservative Christian. And I agree with you; It's very difficult to find Christian aspies.

I'm single, and my mates say that I behave like a girl at the best of times!

Do I count? :P

Maybe we're going about it wrong.

I'm a Christian bi woman, if you feel that that counts.

(I certainly do. :D But I know some Christians won't consider an LGBT person a real Christian in any way. :/ )

You're bi, Christian and an Aspie???

Are you a Universalist Christian by chance?

Or are you something even more rare?

No, I'm not a Universalist Christian. At least, not as far as my understanding of the term goes.

And I am not diagnosed as Aspie. I am not sure I'd even qualify. But I do have a lot of traits that are similar. (See my testing score below in siggy.) I guess I go around half-Asp'ed. xD

I think a lot of times we are. At the end of the day, church is for NTs. Church is for people who don't hate the say hi to your neighbor part of the service. Church is for people who don't have auditory processing issues, enjoy being social, and don't mind bright lights, etc, but I have also found that I can fit into church. I go to a Lutheran church and was raised within the Lutheran church. It is quiet, routine-based, and I know what to expect when. This consistency is very comforting to me and I can connect to this routine. It's like I'm a robot plugging into a main computer server. Services are also less social. I never need to get anxious about bright lights or really loud music. I have been to a lot of churches who want to make things more exciting and more contemporary. For me, this is a nightmare. It takes about 5 minutes of that for me to need to leave or just shut down. It's not a question of do I want to be there, but do I have access. Me and sensory overstimulation is like asking someone who is blind to read to participate in the service. They would not be able to participate because they can't see. I wish there was a way to get churches to understand that this is the same for sensory processing disorder. I'm not mean or excessively irritable. I'm not spoiled or picky. My brain works differently. I need different things in church to be happy there and experience church at the same levels as others. In the Lutheran church though, I can get a lot of that without needing anything special. It's quiet and predictable; so I can relax and think.
