Mapping technician for a city government.

Will be attending school full-time in August, and probably working part-time.

I work in the Correspondence Department for the local natural gas utility company. So when people write letters (or send faxes, or send e-mails) to the gas company for whatever reason, I am in the department that gets to read the letters and either route them to other departments or respond to them ourselves, depending on what it is. (Eg, if it's an application form for Direct Debit from one's bank account for their gas bill, that gets routed to the Cashiers department. If it's "Why is my gas bill so high?", we get to respond ourselves.)

I like it because I communicate better in writing than I do in person. The job also makes use of my organizational and analytical abilities. And my supervisor has even commented that she's noticed my knack for spotting things that are out of place, incongruities, things that just don't add up... which some sources on AS state is something Aspergians are good at.

(No, she doesn't know about me and AS. No one offline does.)

I work for a temp agency, and currently am doing an assignment at a data storage company, where I do data entry. I've known other people who got hired permanently when they've started out as temps, so I'm hoping that happens to me eventually. At the very least, I'm getting valuable work experience.

I have a part-time job as postman. It's pretty cool! It is an agreeably monotonous work and you work alone without need of much social skills, except smiling and repeating the same phrases all over.
Further if a postman want's someone to send him something he can use any one of the adresses in his area and intercept the letter before it arrives there. And sometimes there are houses with mailboxes which are not checked in weeks.
Another interesting aspect of this job is that you get to know the people to whom you deliver the mail by what they receive, their hobbies, their work perhaps, with whom they are associated, where their friends are at holiday.
People are normally friendly to postmen.
