How do you handle pushy people?

Apparently I just freeze, shake, look like I am about to cry and walk away...I refuse to actively deal with it basically and will walk off, avoid them or refuse to speak with them at all.

Yet another reminder that I am fine as long as I am out and about dealing with things but that I have difficulty coping with people interaction.

How do you handle pushy types.

I can't speak to them, I just ignore them. If I get into it with them, I will end up snapping. I'm either 0 or 100, so either completely apathetic or my button is pushed and i'll be dangerous.

I am only dangerous in my head when I am thinking about getting my own back on bullies. In reality I am rather wimpy instead.

I've become to jaded and callous over my course of my life from events and my condition, that I don't tolerance or remorse for anyone who acts out of bounds. If a customer was rude to me while I was doing something for them, I truly wish they would crash their car and die on the way home. So if I don't stay in control, my rage will be the end of me.

I automatically resist. I want to find a logical reason to do something, and being pushed into doing something annoys me (especially if someone is being pushy in an emotional way), as it interrupts my thought process. Because of that, I feel the need to withdraw as well.

Stubbornness is a personality trait that runs in my family.

There is little I detest as much as pushiness. I HATE it when people won’t take no for an answer and keep pestering me. Pushy people can easily make me go off.
I don’t push after the first no, and I have no patience with people who do.

I don’t give in to pushy people. It can actually have the opposite effect, I might be provoked to refuse doing something I don’t mind that much just because they were pushy about it. I cannot stress sufficiently how much I hate that kind of behavior. Pushiness has been part of the reason why I broke up with someone in the past.

When someone is pushy with me I kindly tell them the reason why I won't do it (or won't at that moment) and ask them to please stop. If they further continue with it I just keep telling them calmly that I'm not going to do it (or not do it yet and they have to wait) However I hate this sort of thing and will lose my temper very quickly. If it's something to do with work where I have to keep calm I do so with lots difficulty but I do it.

I just walk away from the person without saying anything. I refuse to say anything after being pushed too far.

Sometimes I have been driven to meltdowns from overly pushy people. It is very hard for me to handle that. I really feel ill equipped in that department.

People like that make me very anxious because I'm unable to say no to them. I once almost got roped into buying a newspaper subscription because the woman selling them was so forceful in a friendly way that it made me afraid to say no. In fact, I was so flustered that I forgot she was selling instead of giving them away, so I told her I'd take some just to shut her up, I don't even read the newspaper. When she started filling out my subscription form I finally realised what was happening and panicked, saying something along the lines that I couldn't afford it right now. She countered with how cheap it was, leaving me in a lurch. I basically just repeated myself and walked out. I was anxious and uneasy for a while after that, not to mention feeling pretty stupid.

I get extremely blunt.

"I will be doing this. Thank you for your input." or "I appreciate your interest, but I wasn't looking for your input. I've already made my decision." I used to avoid it and shrink away, but I got tired of it. Now I just throw tact to the wind and let them know that I'm uninterested in their thoughts about my choices.

I guess I don't understand the question, I understand what pushy is but I can honestly say I don't know that I have ever dealt with anyone like that. but then I have recently been told by some of my family that I don't seem to exert my opinion. I have been told that I confuse people by asking them more about what ever they are "pushing(i guess)" and then seek a deeper understanding of how and why they are thinking like that through questions and insight on what they are "pushing/doing/asking" and then I try and help them expand on there Ideals. Then I promptly go about what ever I was doing generally annoyed that they came to me with out properly forming a Ideal.

StarTrekker for me in the situation of a newspaper sales person I would of asked them a lot of questions about the paper, there involvement with the newspaper, are they hourly, do they get commission, how many have they sold, where have they sold them, Have they tried going to any number of gatherings where they will reach a larger crowd?

Did they know that it is a common misconception that a simple "no soliciting" sign is meant to keep individuals from attempting to speak with a business owner or principal about his products or services. while this may be accomplished using a more detailed sign specifically asking vendors not to promote themselves to employees or principals, most sales professionals are taught to bypass simple "no soliciting" signs and interpret them to mean "do not solicit our patrons" and if they are commission based they could partner up with any number of business owners to gain higher subscription rates and possibly work out some sort of business arrangement to benefit both them and the business owner if they are willing to share some of there commission and for a small fee per subscription I would be happy to broker any such arrangements I just need there name, phone number and best time to contact them.

And even if they are not commission based and only hourly I would be happy to suggest some business and locations they could go and find more business, but personally I do not ready any newspapers due to lack of interest, I read my news on the internet.

And is it not true that all those people who run advertising have to pay to have it in the newspaper, it would make more sense for the newspaper to increase the advertising costs and offer the newspaper for free to reach a wider audience, don't those who place classified adds also pay per word or per add per day, it seems that it would make more sense to come off the fence and stop double dipping causing both your potential subscribers and the companies you are advertising for to be set at odds and instead side with the consumer to increase advertising revenue and gain a wider reader base in the end getting the advertisers message out to a larger audience allowing the newspaper to charge much higher advertising rates along with spreading the newspapers belief that what they are reporting on is news worth reading

sorry I got so long winded was just lost in thought ;) my nephew said that people tune me out because I make them feel stupid because I think to much.
hmmmm maybe I am the "pushy" one? but then again they come to me.
