Okay, I'm not sure if this is in other schools (I go to a private school), but a lot of times, people will call out the answer or the teacher wants everyone to say something at the same time. I just can't seem to bring myself to do those things. It's really awkward.

For my public school education that wasn't a part of the system. If people did shut out answers or talk at the same time, it would be considered a minor disruption and something to be avoided when possible. It does sound odd and akward to me that they would expect such behavior.

I do homeschool co-op and I'm usually the only one regularly calling out answers in all classes, but in some classes we don't have to raise hands.

It happens at my school, specially at english classes.

I say nothing because the teacher knows that I'm good ("good") at english.

For most of my childhood I never went to school, so I have similar troubles with these things. Especially when I was younger in public schools(only for like 3.5 years total from k-12) for short times I would have no idea what to do when teachers asked things. I remember teachers passing out things and being like "Why did they hand me so many copies?" and I didn't realize I had to hand them backwards. Or they'd be like "Hand out these papers" and I'd know nobodies names. Awkward times...

At college it's a lot better, but there are problems; At the community college I go to, most of the teachers simply have people blurt out questions/comments during the lecture when the teacher pauses for a breath. It's weird, I write down my questions and can never find a time that seems right. Which sometimes never comes... I like the hand holding up a lot better.

What's worse is when you're the only one who wants to answer, or can, a question. It's always "An acid base reaction always forms a...?...?...? crickets..." me "A salt and water." after nobody else wants to pipe up. I don't want to be "that guy" but it drives me crazy.
