It's what I do, and I don't mean in small amounts. I've got to stop this.

I read somewhere that keeping a food journal is a good idea, but I don't know what else to do to really give myself a chance to succeed. I don't want to half ass this.

Anyone have anything more on this, links, reference material, anything?

There is a expression in Québec about that. "Manger ses émotions", it mean "Eating his emotions/feelings".

Can you try to wean yourself off the emotional eating by having food that doesn't have many calories when you aren't truly hungry? Like popsicles, broth, carrots and celery, peppermint candies. It will keep your mouth busy and distract you.

I'm going to attempt using sugar free cough drops instead of eating whatever is at hand. That is until I find some other readily available calorie free food to use.

I eat to feel good. I just do it in a generally healthy way.

I was just thinking about this! I normally have a healthy diet, but I have been under stress these past few months, and have gained 10 pounds! I know exactly what I've been doing, and that is shoveling in junk food to my mouth when I am stressed or working. Combined with fast food convenience, there's a toxic combination. The good news is that I know I can lose that weight. I lost 15 pounds in the preceding eight months, and have lost a lot more weight before. I am also severely limiting the amount of alcohol I consume in these next few months (maybe limiting it to one drink every other weekend).

Be careful with that. Menthol can poison you if you ingest too much. Chewing gum really helped me with this.

if you can afford this eating habits then there's no need to stop imo, look for these two supplements: Liposan Ultra and Phase 2

Liposan Ultra neutralises a portion of the fat you eat and Phase 2 neutralises starch, they both make you feel fuller when you take them before meals.

Combined with regular exercise there's nothing to worry about.
