^^^ Heh, that's interesting.

You don't hear about stuff like that locally very often.

The Waltons build a few theaters and museums around here and get treated like they're saints...

When you point out that Alice spent nearly $350,000,000.00 on a place to house her paintings (she lets the little people come see them for free  ), while nearly 25% of children in the area (many are children of her employees) go to bed hungry on any given night, you just get blank stares.

The rich and super rich have greater incidence of substance abuse problems than the other classes.
Think about it, a certain percentage of the general population will be prone to substance abuse, but if you are a Walton, you are gonna have absolutely no financial limitations to how wasted you can get, and with that much money and influence, there are virtually no consequences.

So, I am surprised on no way whatsoever. I would have been surprised if she wasn't a drunk.
The Walton kids are probably all on cocaine or god knows what. I have no doubt that that family is about as dysfunctional and f'd up as they come. Lots of money does that to people.

I have read many such articles about Alice where she was being drunk. However many others also get drunk.

True, but those "many others" also getting drunk can't buy their way out of everything from a DUI to vehicular homicide.

I know an old guy who owned a bar in Fayetteville during the late 80s/early 90s... He has some pretty interesting stories to tell about Don Tyson.

Also, it's not insignificant that the one place Alice couldn't slither out of trouble was Springdale. The Walton's might own everything else, but Springdale belongs to the Tysons.

We have two of their stores here in Spokane Valley, while I think the larger Spokane has just one. Growing like cancer. But I'd be a bit hypocritical to complain, since I shop there.

I try to avoid it like the plague, but sometimes they are the only option. When they built a Supercenter here I had no problem staying out because they had all the cash registers making this loud blip sound every time something got rang up,sensory hell. They don't do that now, but I can't stay in there very long,it smells funny, too noisy and there is just too much stuff.Once I was putting groceries in the car there and they called a code black because of a tornado sighting. The MalWart employee in the parking lot said I needed to go back in the store,I refused and drove off.Was not going to die in that store. It didn't look like a safe place to be in a tornado, years later at Joplin it was proved that big stores like that are a death trap in tornados.
I headed for the direction of the bar that has an underground parking garage.Drinks and shelter. It was kind of funny, there was no traffic,so I got to run several red lights, who's gonna stop you in a tornado? :D

I'd personally rather die with a beer in my hand than with Alice Walton trying to shove a sales item up my backside.

I don't trade with Wal-mart except when buying my drugs. My insurance coverage only works with Wal-mart Rx... :(

I buy most of my crap from Amazon.com.... Unfortunately, Amazon isn't much better than Wal-mart judging by business models and treatment of employees.

Too bad we don't have Costco around here...

i am not sure how this is interesting or surprising... a member of the family that owns 40% of the wealth in this country, and yet has over 60% of their employees receiving some sort of government assistance acting a fool and like a self entitled asshat? Who'd a'thunk?
