Any one else ever have their teen pretend that people they are angry with don't exist? My son seems to hate his sister (I think he's jealous of her). She has never done anything to deserve the hate - has told him she hates his guts after he's treated her very poorly and tried to hit her when she walked by but she only does this when he's pushed her to the limit. I can't entirely blame her - he's put me in tears many times he's so mean. He refers to her as "it" and will say "there's nothing there" when I refer to her. Last night when I referred to her he said he was the only one as if she didn't exist.

He also does this with a former friend that he became angry with after the friend made fun of him on Xbox.

Anyone else ever seen this?

8O Who said that?

Seriously, no, I can't say I've seen that carried to such an extreme and it's unacceptable behavior.

Maybe you and everyone else should pretend he doesn’t exist.

My son is exactly the same. He resents his sister so much; he is 16 and she is 20 and they got along pretty well when they were younger but for the last several years he complains that her life is perfect and she has everything easy and why cant his life be like that ? So I know its jealousy and also in their verbal fights, she always wins with her come backs and all and he cannot even respond so the resentment grew over time. Now he does not want me to mention her. When we have guests or family over and people talk to her, he does nt like it. I don't know either how to handle that. I have conveyed this to his therapist though...
Sorry I could nt help but this is the situation with us too :(
All the best
