So apparently if you're an atheist, you're autistic and that somehow makes you lack morality or a soul. t least according to this guy.

So Autistic theists, maybe you should give your 2 cents on this. I'd love to see how this guy tries to backpeddle out of this one:

Many people with high functioning autism are atheists but that does not mean that all atheists are autistic. His logic is flawed.

Looks like Europe has an autism epidemic. Many nations there have 20% to 40% of their population identifying as not believing in a god. Almost 50% in China. So, another great moment in YouTube science.

I look forward to the day when religion no longer rules our minds; and if it takes everyone becoming Autistic, then so be it.

Fie upon them! Only one percent of the population (or roundabout that number) is autistic.

Atheism is now running over ten percent.

Meh, it's just some YouTube guy. I've never understood the belief that just because you have a webcam it means you have something worth saying.

My response to his video on youtube

I think what these studies show more than anything is that people with Asperger's Syndrome are difficult subjects to brainwash into belief systems that are clearly social constructs aimed at controlling masses of people. The so called "NT" population are more vulnerable to accepting what their parents and communities tell them because they do not have the unique way of looking at the world that someone with Asperger's Syndrome does. People with High Functioning Autism are naturally more critical and analytical than the general population who are more likely to accept superficial explanations of things.

I will get hammered by some NT atheists perhaps, and some theists autistic s maybe

He could have substituted "scientist" for "autistic"

Even though I'm Catholic, I agree with you.

Hm, that's strange. I have an official diagnosis for Asperger's, and I fancy myself a believer.

True, or autistics (pretty much can be replaced with heavily logical minded people) are less open to accepting anything supernatural, anything more than what they can observe. Many cannot comprehend something more than the laws of nature we observe. I worded that poorly; it sounds more derisive than it should. There is more to much spirituality than control.

I would not be inclined to say that is true of all Aspies since at least some have been "brainwashed" into believing *all* thoughts of spirituality are hogwash just as surely as belief systems that are mere social constructs are undesirable. In my own experience, however, my willingness to question any man-made social construct has helped me get past mere religion and at least begin to grasp the reality of the supernatural.

I think that like so much else, many people - autistic and not - refuse to follow Christ because they'd rather blame Him for their problems. I've fallen into that trap many times myself, but He's much more patient with me than I've ever been with Him.
