After a quick poke in the ribs from Starr I have decided to set up this thread. This thread is distinct from the "Don't Talk At All" thread as here this thread will cover members' own photography. (Also, you can speak in this one!)

So, without further ado, I shall start.

Ulverston, Cumbria, United Kingdom

Ulverston is a town in south-west Cumbria on the Furness peninsula. Until 1974 the town was part of the county of Lancashire. To be honest, I thought that this wasn't a bad town but there's really not a great deal here.

Here's the photos:

I never actually went in this part of Holker Hall so I can't tell you what it was like. I have been to Holker Hall once before but it was years ago. I seem to remember it being an interesting day out, though.

Image

The strangest thing happened when we came to pay and display: I moved past a strange man in a balaclava who simply dug some food out of the rubbish bin and hastily made off with it! Freegans, I think they're called. Dirty swines.

Image

One of the clocks in the town:

Image

Part of the town centre - the main street, if you will. Watching the world go by in a snapshot.

Image

Image

Coniston Old Man Ale. A nice pint and very light on th'owd palate it ware too! (Lancashire dialect strikes again!)

Image

And this is what I had to eat at the pub I went to - the Farmers Arms. I had a cajun chicken baguette with some nice salad with a side-order of chips. All washed down with two pints of Old Man Ale. Good food too.

Image

This is the outside of the Laurel and Hardy museum at Ulverston. I was told earlier on by someone who lives here that it's not really worth paying money to visit unless you're a diehard fan. Which I'm not. I did manage to have a very quick peek inside and to be honest it looked untidy and dilapidated.

Image

A plaque to Stan Laurel:

St. George's Cross above a newsagent on one of the roads leading around town:

And a chance to view some more of the street this was taken on:

Image

They have CCTV cameras all over Ulverston and there are literally millions of these in Britain. I only really point these out as these ones are particularly large and look quite intimidating with regard to their positioning.

Image

There's Ulverston indoor market on this road:

And that's it from me for now. I'll post more on here (as well as on Flickr) if others would like to see them? :)

Nice photos Tequila, Hubs and I went there a few years ago on the way to Walney Island, nice place Ulverston.

Here are a couple I took last summer from the top of Mount Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales. I wanted to show everyone a little bit of my country. The first one, I didn't notice the seagull had flown into the shot when I took it, I think it adds a lot to the photograph.

It was the middle of summer and about 25C on the ground level, but really cold and mistyat the top.

I've got some other photos I'd like to show everyone. I'll root them out tomorrow if I get 5 mins to myself. :)

Like your photos Tinky, you have two cute critters - maybe three, was the squishy thing alive at one time? It looks sort of alien, what is it?

Those pictures of the Snowdon are nice, Starr. I was there last summer, on the top of the mountain, it was pretty stormy up there :D but the sight was great :)

Did you get the train up? It's a boneshaker isn't it  but worth the rattle for the views at the top.

Reminds me of the train I got up to Snaefell on the Isle of Man. Now that did rattle like all hell. Good fun, though. :)

The Snowdon images are lovely. Been a long time since I went there, and don't think I ever got very far up it. I miss going to places like that. Used to travel so much when I was a child with my family. I remember places like Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole and the lake district, and yorkshire was always a favourite. If only I had been interested in photography at those ages.

Here's two more shots of me messing around with my camera. They shouldn't need too much explanation:

Of the bottled real ales, not had Brakspear's before, but I've had the XB, the Old Speckled Hen and the Bluebird before. The first two on cask.

it used to have a hole on the string that you would put your finger in. it's kind of like paddle ball but the paddle is your hand. the squishy thing was filled with a liquid but it sprung a leak. me and my sister spent an hour outside kicking and squeezing it.

That snow one is wonderful. Must also be quite hard to capture a rainbow, not yet managed it myself.

What beautiful photos Lemon! I've never managed to capture a rainbow either. I saw a lovely double rainbow once but alas, didn't have my camera with me. (Why is it you always see interesting things when you're camera's at home? )

You have such lovely views of nature..and the kitten, ah, he is adorable.

(Btw, you asked about Mount Snowdon, it is 3560 feet high 1085metres)

A yeah the train  poor people down the village, one big plume of sulfur flew right into the village
But indeed, the view is worth it all.
