Harold Ramis, perhaps best known for playing Egon Spangler in the Ghost Busters movies has himself joined the ranks of the very ghosts he had hunted. He was 69. Ramis had also made his mark in the movie industry as a screen writer and director, as well as an actor. He will truly be missed.
I know there had been talk about a new Ghost Busters movie - I wonder if this puts those plans into limbo.

The man who wrote the screenplay for 'Animal House'. I'm going to watch the DVD tomorrow night to mark his passing.

That is sad. I like him so much in both Ghostbusters movies, as well as the 1981 movie Stripes (which also starred fellow Ghostbuster Bill Murray). He will be missed. :(

He also directed and partially wrote the screenplay for one of my all-time favourite movies, Groundhog Day.

I'll miss him greatly.

A sad day for all of his fans indeed.

As for the new Ghostbusters movie, I'm pretty sure he was also working with Dan Aykroyd to bring number 3 out. Hopefully it doesn't die with Harold, I'd very much like to see it finished.

Thought the video game was seen as the 3rd GB movie.

I'll always remember him on SCTV in the Ben Hur sketch chariot racing with John Candy. RIP.

I'm a huge fan of Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters 2. I had no idea that Harold Ramis was sick until the day he died. My sister didn't want to tell me the news because she knew I'd be sad, but I had already been informed via the radio. We're all fans of Ghostbusters in my family, including my four-year-old nephew. I thought it was cute when I heard that fans had left behind Twinkies at the firehouse in New York City where the Ghostbusters had set up shop in the movie.

Dr. Egon Spengler: "Let's say this Twinkie represents the normal amount of psychokinetic energy in the New York area. According to this morning's sample, it'd be a Twinkie 35 feet long, weighing approximately 600 pounds.

Dr. Ray Stantz: (coughing)

Winston Zeddemore: "That's a big Twinkie."

Director Ivan Reitman said that Harold Ramis's death will have no impact on the production of Ghostbusters 3 because Ramis's parts have already been filmed.

These kids don't know how much I would have envied them if I had seen this circa 1989!!

Really get the sense that Harold Ramis, and the rest of the cast are very down to Earth, at least thirty years ago!!

I wish I lived in New York City!

RIP, Harold... Not long until...
