So, how many friends do you have?

I'm going to put up my own definition of friends so make sure you're qualifying your friends based on the definition I give...

Imagine you delete your friend off of Facebook, Twitter etc. You lose their number and have no mobile phone... If this person would come to your home or place of work to find out what gives then they are a true friend.

My reason for making this thread is to find out how many true friends most of you have.

I'll go first, I have a few 'friends' but by my definition I would have zero friends.

How about y'all?

Given your scenario, I'd guess 5 or 6.

My measure of "close friends" is people I'd go well out of my way to hang out with, and vice versa.....which would make my number of close friends 5.

I don't really think about "tests", and I don't believe that limitations to a friendship means it's not a worthwhile friendship. Appreciating the connections I have for what they are has removed an immense load of loneliness and bitterness, and allowed me to be more exploratory and spontaneous in social settings instead of monitoring them for how popular I am or how dedicated to me people are.

The people I consider friends are kind to me, keep me company, and don't steal from me or talk about me behind my back. I don't care if some of them wouldn't hunt me down, because some of them would and have done other things.

There are a couple of old and dear friends that I used to hang out with regularly in my 20s, who are now dispersed in various locations, with whom my only connection is Facebook, because we all live too far away to just drop in on each other anymore. If we were to inadvertently lose contact, I think all of us would go out of our way to try to reestablish some connection, even if it took a few weeks or months to accomplish. So there are 2, maybe 3 of those.

But, in terms of people I actually see or talk to on a regular basis, there are none.

According to your strict definition which you would like to look at it in, my answer would be I would not know unless I tried it.

0 and have had people throw me away and have asked why but dont get answers.

From your definition I can say one not including my husband and immediate family. I do have a small handful of close friends whom I know love me very much and have been close to me for the better of 20 years and whom I know I can rely on but for the strict definition that the OP stated I can only think of 1.

Cool! I don't do the Land Mobile, but I do the others and also vintage audio/radios/comm receivers.
