If we bought, sold or owned a monkey like that in Aust we'd get our asses thrown in jail :o

That video made me feel sick. So much fear and anxiety from the animals, and that monkey is a product of illegal poaching, plus that harness they had on it is terrible, especially how they swing it around on it. That would be like having a choke chain around your gut and using it as a tire swing.

Its legal to own a pet monkey in Japan though that specific species she was handling is a Squirrel monkey. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squirrel_monkey often captured for pet trade but it is not threatened.

What do they sell squirrels for? Those are considered vermin here and if you have too many of them the pest control man puts out bait for them. Or you can just shoot them with a .22. Of course most people don't do that unless they have too many of them. Some people actually eat them, yuck. Squirrel is one of the most redneck hunting targets though, and that's saying something. Our high school cheerleaders actually held a fundraiser a couple years ago that was a squirrel hunt. You actually paid money to go to this land and shoot at squirrels. Whoever had the most, by weight, won the prizes that were donated to them for it. Now thats redneck!

Some eat raccoon meat now that's super redneck! Now if I had a pet monkey Id name him spanky as an inside joke haha!!

Oh, I've heard of that. Coon hunting is popular but mainly they just skin them. Whats wierd though is folks who eat possum. POSSUM!! !!
