Cyberwarfare Part1: Living in the Shell
A cookie for anyone who gets the starting reference of the stories title. Anyway, this is a story that is going to be told through the perspective of a Braxxian cyborg. I hope this one is more easy to understand then my last few stories and will finally shed some light on the Braxxians. (Note: I wanted to give this story some 1984 vibes into it, enjoy!)

It was a cold rainy day in the city of Astire on the planet Braxxus. Citizens walked about under the cover of the Mothershield system situated above the city to protect the denizens from the inhospitable acid rain. However unnerving this was to the Braxxian citizens they were routinely reminded of the safety and the stability of the energy shield which was to the holding at ninety-nine percent by the cities speaker systems.
A young cyborg named Quatraxis strode through the busy crowd that day. Everywhere around him was life, manufactured life. People were moving about entering and exiting shops and buildings, buying and selling goods. As Quatraxis walked down the designated sidewalk he would often gaze at the large LED and holographic signs and videos being played above on the cities buildings.
“Scanning..Scanning..Nope, not useful data. Just a commercial for lubrication oil.”
Quatraxis said after observing one of the advertisement videos being broadcasted.
As he continued to walk down the path he liked to gaze upon the massive pink Mothershield above the city. While it was hard to see the rain hitting the shield with his magnification of his scanners, he could see that energy signature was strong.
“Do not stare at the shield for too long, its energy output could fry your sensors. “Quatraxis reminded himself as he looked back down again.
He continued to stride down the path until he entered a store.
“My biological components need nourishment.” Quatraxis said to himself as he entered.
He went into the store and gazed upon all the items for sell. He could hear many advertisements and conversations going on with his auditory sensors. Quatraxis advanced over to food isle. Once he got there he scanned the barcarodes on the food, with each scanning he could identify the items and their nutritional value.
Quatraxis soon found what he was looking for, a container of “Optimum Omega3 Nutrient Fish Content”tm.
“My favorite.” The cybernetic citizen said to himself. As he picked up the item.
Just as soon as his hands touched the container it glowed. He then received a message on his HUD to not attempt to shoplift otherwise he would be tracked down and there would be “consequences”.
The cyborg proceeded to walk over to the cashier and wait in line. It was not that big of a line and when it was he would get a message saying “proceed”. When it was finally his turn he walked over to the cashier and placed the container down to be scanned.
“Identification please. “ The cashier said as he motioned to a peripheral dock on the counter.
“Um yes, of course.” Qutraxis said as he linked up to the peripheral.
“Name: Quatraxis, Biological age: 22, Status: Registered, Class: Reaver Scout, Rank: Ensign. Credit amount: Sufficient. You may proceed to purchase this item.” The cashier said after scanning Quatraxis data.
“I shall purchase this item.” Quatraxis said while pushing a “Purchase” button on the counter.
“Thank you for your patronage, have a nice day” The cashier said credits were deducted from Quatraxis’s account and the contained stopped glowing.
“Remember, you have a minimum of ten days to return the container.” The cashier told him as he left.
“I know, thank you.” Qautraxis said as he walked out the door.
The cyborg walked back to his house intending to consume his food. He knew he shouldn't be out at dark otherwise he would look suspicious to the authorities with the container in his hands. So he proceeded home and entered the code to open his house.
As he entered he could hear the sound of audio coming from a holographic entertainment device.
“Mother must be observing her stories again.” Qautraxis said to himself.
He moved to the kitchen area and opened the capsule on the kitchen table. He saw an
“Insert container here” slot and put the capsule in it so it could be sent back without delay.
“Better get that out of the way.” Quatraxis said to himself.
He then opened the small box of “Optimum Omega 3 Nutrient Fish Content” and took it out. He tore off the paper and placed the food on a plate. He also placed the wrappings and the box in the “nano-cycle”tm slot to be sent to the nanotechnology recycling center.
"Now to modify this material to make dinner." Quatraxis told himself as he was hungry.
