The Serpent's Egg by Ingmar Bergman deserves a place in any list such as that.

Revolver (2005) by Guy Ritchie.

How a man who created masterpieces like Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch and RocknRolla could direct such an awful movie is beyond me.

It does have one redeeming feature, though. Sorter. It begins at 2:24.

Because of the popularity of Sorter, some versions of the film actually leave out the last part, thus suggesting he survived.

I fail to see why Alien 3 is on the list in the OP, BTW. It is not the masterpiece of James Cameron's Aliens, but I still like the movie.

I couldn't make sense of any of it, and thought it was me. Over time, I see it on more cinematic screw-ups lists, so maybe there really isn't much art below the surface.

Question to Everyone: What are "good" movies by "bad" directors that you like?

Plan 9.., Glen or Glenda, etc. Edward D Wood Jr's movies are surprisingly entertaining, and he was very innovative. I am not sure that it's fair to call him a bad director except in a technical sense.

Bay's Pain and Gain is a pretty good film by a director that I don't usually have a lot of time for.

The Sixth Sense.

Really? Thought this one was a pretty good movie. Far from embarrassingly bad.

Actually, I thought the first 3/4 of this was great, bordering on excellent. But it completely blew the ending.

Actually, I thought The Prestige was a good movie too, but it left a lot to be desired. Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale both gave great performances, but the movie no higher than a B- at the most.

As for The Black Dahlia, I agree with many who say that Brian De Palma's works from 2000 to now all suck.

"The Shining" by Stanley Kubrick has to be one of the bigger embarassments in cinema.

Also pretty much everything Wim Wenders has done (except possibly his documentaries) after "Wings of Desire" (and maybe even that, depending on how you look at it.)

Alfred Hitchcock's remake of "the Man Who Knew Too Much". The original was entertaining and well made. The remake seemed to be trying to use its stars to draw an audience without worring too much about telling a good story.

"Intolerable cruelty" by the Coen brothers has already been mentioned, but for my money, i think "the Ladykillers" is the lesser film.

"The Great Dictator" by Charlie Chaplin - too preachy.

I generally like Woody Allen's films, but when he makes a bad one, they can be pretty awful. "Hollywood Ending" and "Celebrity" were really atrocious.

"To The Wonder" by Terrence Mallick just didn't seem to go anywhere. It's the only one of his films i was bored by.

To say the least. It's also not funny, and barely watchable in some scenes.
