I think that mozilla firefox is just as stupid as barney the dinosaur. people claim that firefox has everything. not true. IE and Oprea can do basicly the same stuff as firefox can. for example:

Firefox feature - It has a cool cutting edge extreme generation X name and logo! bullhonkey. I don't give a crud about what the title or the icon is. people should pay more attention to the website itself insted of the little icon at the top left hand corrner of the browser.

Firefox feature - It comes with protection against hacking, spyware, and viri! What's the point? I have a real firewall (called McAfee), and plenty of good spyware removers. Internet Explorer has a pop-up blocker, too.

Firefox feature - You can play music through it! Why would I need to do that, when I have Winamp? I prefer to have my internet browser and my music player separate. What happens if the page lags and I want to close it? That means my music would be shut off too! Besides, you people are seeming to forget that it's an internet browser used to view websites... When I look at a website, I don't want all sorts of unnecessary fancy bells and whistles. Once again, I just want to focus on the website itself.

Firefox feature - There's a way to select and highlight text on websites! Haven't you people ever heard of CTRL-F? CTRL-F is man's best friend. Don't be afraid to use it.

Firefox feature - It allows you to download things from sites that require membership! Look, people; I'm an honest man. Typically, if a website requires membership to download one of their products, usually it's for a good reason. Websites need bandwidth to operate. When you download a large file from a website, you use their bandwidth. A lot of sites require members only downloads to prevent most of their space being taken up. It usually ensures that only people who are desperately in need of a download will take the time and register first. You'd understand if you had your own website and bandwidth to worry about.

Firefox feature - It automatically corrects your typing! I hate stuff like that. My cell phone does the same thing (I have to go out of my way to stop it from doing that). Suppose I'm typing a word that it doesn't recognize? What happens if I say "dongle" and it assumes I meant to say "hello"? What if I'm typing something in another language? The German word for corn is korn, so if I say the word "corn" to one of my kraut buddies, it'll change the spelling for me.

Firefox feature - There's a Google search bar built into it! I can't stand search bars in my browser! It's just like having spyware infected in your PC. My default homepage is Google already... If I need something Googled, I'll just open up a browser and commence the searching. Who cares if it takes me an extra five seconds to open up a new browser as opposed to doing it instantly? You see, this is what's wrong with America's youth. People have become so lazy, to the point of having no work ethic and no attention spans.

Firefox feature - It tells you the news and weather! And Comcast.net, MSN.com, the Weather Channel's website, every single news website, and AIM's Today don't?

Firefox feature - You can have several websites open at a time, and they become tabbed into one browser window! Whooptity-freakin'-doo!! Like I said before, I don't suffer from ADD. I usually only have one or two websites open at a time anyway. I don't know anyone who needs 50 open at once. It's not like having tabbed browsers will make your PC run any faster, either. Your computer still has the same amount of processes running with tabbed browsers as it would with individual ones.

Since I gave you sufficient reasons why I use IE instead of Firefox, there's a chance you're ticked off upon reading this, thus you'll attempt to flood me with useless propaganda to try to convert me. I'll make a deal with you guys... I want to see if anyone can successfully make me switch from IE to Firefox. I know it won't happen, but I want to see if someone's actually willing to try. If you can give me a valid reason for making me want to change browsers, and give me something better than just saying, "Firefox PWNZ Internet Explorer", I'd really really really really really like to hear it.

you're making assumptions about why people use firefox. unfortunately your assumptions are largely wrong.

It has a secure extention system.

Doesn't have feature that are inherently insecure

CTRL-F works in realtime (as you type)

Disables annoying javascript features

The adblock extention with the filter update extention take care of all of the popups that would normally be able to bypass IE's popup blocker

Firefox does not automatically correct typing, it underlines misspellings

Developers are faster at finding and fixing bugs

Developers actually admit that there is a bug before they have a patch for it
(as opposed to microsoft's only admitting there's bug when they have a patch)

Ability to disable the rendering of individual images (which may be inaoppropriate in a work or educational environment, or just plain unsightly)

I prefer Firefox over IE because its extensions and themes allow for a greater customization of my browser than IE does. I have no idea about Opera, because I don't like Opera's interface -- too cluttered, and takes up too much screen real estate for my tastes.

Now if only there was a Windows version of Konqueror...

The ad-block add-on is *highly* important for me. I am epileptic, and things that flash are seizure triggers...I cant tell you how many flashy avatars, and advertisements I have blocked. If I didn't have Firefox's ad-block, I likely wouldn't be able to tolerate the net at all.

So, is that a good enough reason for you?

Firefox is probably the best browser from my experience. There is only one thing I would like to see in Firefox, and that's the ability to close the browser and pick up where you left off. I know there is a crash handler in it that restores the sites you had open in it before a crash, but I would like to see one for general use. This feature is actually found in Opera (and the main reason I used it for a browser for a significant period of time).

As for Internet Explorer, the thing that pisses me off most about it (besides its security problems) is how much it doesn't follow coding standards on the internet. There are so many scripts that only it can run because it's using Microsoft's standards not coding standards like the ones set by W3C.

No offence tealclock, but I think you are the one making the assumptions. Can you provide the reasons why you like Internet Explorer? Also how many browsers have you tried? If you have only used Internet Explorer then you are not really in a position to comment.

Opera does have some pretty good custom themes (not sure about the add-ons though).

Opera is heavily customizable and has THE best minimalist themes giving you more screen real estate for actual browsing than any other browser hands down.

Do you use Adblock Filterset.G Updater?

Sorry to say this, but I don't use FireFox.

However, I do use SeaMonkey. :)

Which version of IE is it that runs under Linux?

I occasionally find myself in Konqueror, or other browser bits'n'bobs. Maybe I'd use Opera... I haven't looked at it for a while. Will it:

1) Let me browse, email, nttp, edit web pages, etc.
2) Keep my email in one place, while I run from XP (two versions), Ubuntu, SuSE, Debian, Mandrake, Fedora, etc.
3) Let me customise the odd few bits I want to and leave the rest as sensible defaults.
4) Provide extensions for anything I can conceive of. (Web Developer is lovely).
5) Allow me to contribute back with suggestions, bug reports and updated code.

What is IE? Can you use it to browse? I thought it was just a bit of software designed to cause Windows systems to crash quicker than usual. :)

Windows doesn't need any help crashing quicker. I find it amusing how Windows sometimes causes errors producing errors :P. See http://images.wikia.com/uncyclopedia/im ... Errors.png to get what I mean.

As for Opera, idk if it does everything you mentioned above, I haven't used it for a while. You could always give it a go and find out :P.
